Stray Kids Score Ninth No. 1 on Billboard 200 With ‘THIS & THAT’ By Keith Caulfield | 8/16/2026 Stray Kids land their ninth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart as THIS & THAT debuts atop the list dated Aug. 22. The set earned 369,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending Aug. 13, according to Luminate, marking the group’s biggest week by units. Of that sum, traditional album sales comprise 357,000, landing the act its best sales week ever. All nine of the group’s Billboard 200 chart entries have debuted at No. 1, beginning with ODDINARY in 2022. In 2024, when HOP launched at No. 1, Stray Kids became the first act to debut its first six entries all at No. 1. They have since extended that record to nine with the arrival of THIS & THAT. The Billboard 200 began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in March 1956. With a ninth No. 1, Stray Kids extend their record for the most No. 1s among groups this century (since 2000). Further, the act ties The Rolling Stones for the second-most No. 1s on the Billboard 200 among groups. The Beatles lead all acts with 19 No. 1s. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Of THIS & THAT’s 369,000 first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 357,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart), SEA units comprise 11,000 (equaling 12.21 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs) and TEA units comprise 1,000. THIS & THAT nets the sixth-largest week for an album, by units earned, in 2026. In traditional album sales, the album logs the second-largest week of 2026, behind only the debut of BTS’ ARIRANG (532,000). THIS & THAT’s album sales were aided by its availability across 17 CD and vinyl variants (all containing collectible items such as photocards, posters and stickers, with some items randomized, including signed editions) and eight digital download variants. Ariana Grande’s petal falls to No. 2 after debuting at No. 1 a week ago. It earned 82,000 equivalent album units in its second week (down 72%). Four more former No. 1s are Nos. 3-6: Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is a non-mover at No. 3 (72,000, down 3%); Ella Langley’s Dandelion is stationary at No. 4 (just over 70,000, down 2%); Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem falls 2-5 (70,000, down 6%); and Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide dips 5-6 (56,000, down 4%). Pooh Shiesty gets his second top 10 on the Billboard 200 as All Eyes on Shiest starts at No. 7. The rapper released the project while in jail, awaiting trial on robbery and kidnapping charges. The set begins with 51,000 equivalent album units. Of that sum, SEA units comprise 49,500 (equaling 51.59 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs; it debuts at No. 6 on Top Streaming Albums), album sales comprise 1,500 (it was only available to purchase only as a digital download) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. Karol G collects her fourth top 10-charted project on the Billboard 200 as No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto enters at No. 8 with 50,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, SEA units comprise 48,000 (equaling 49.52 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs; it debuts at No. 7 on Top Streaming Albums), album sales comprise 1,500 (it was available to buy only as a digital download) and TEA units comprise about 500. Drake’s former leader ICEMAN falls 6-9 with 46,000 equivalent album units earned (down 5%). Rounding out the top 10 is Role Model’s Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, starting at No. 10 with 38,500 equivalent album units earned. It’s the first top 10 and largest week by units for the singer-songwriter. Here’s an updated look at the longest-leading hits, ranked by most weeks at No. 1, over the Hot 100’s archives, which date to August 1958: 22 weeks, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey, 2019-26 19, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, 2024 19, “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019 18, “Choosin’ Texas,” Ella Langley, 2026 16, “Last Night,” Morgan Wallen, 2023 16, “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, 2017 16, “One Sweet Day,” Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995-96 Meanwhile, country music continues its strong showing even beyond “Choosin’ Texas,” as the genre takes four of the chart’s top five spots. “Choosin’ Texas,” on SAWGOD/Columbia Records, with Triple Tigers having promoted it to country radio, totaled 25 million official streams (up 1% week over week), 54.6 million radio airplay audience impressions (essentially even) and 8,000 sold (down 14%) in the United States Aug. 7-13. Langley’s first Hot 100 leader holds for an 18th week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs and a 15th week atop Digital Song Sales and keeps at No. 6, after reaching No. 4, on Radio Songs. “Choosin’ Texas” also dominates the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for a 36th week and the Songs of the Summer chart for an 11th week. Country Claims Top 4 Below “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” rebounds 5-2 after it spent its first two weeks on the chart at No. 1 in June; Morgan Wallen’s “Been by Now” holds at No. 3, two weeks after it debuted at No. 2; and Stella Lefty’s “Boston” rolls 6-4 after reaching No. 3. Country adds another dominant week, two weeks after the genre monopolized the entire top five on the Hot 100 for the first time. Of the 11 weeks all-time with country songs at either Nos. 1-3, 1-4 or 1-5, all have occurred since August 2023, powered, in part, by country’s growth in streaming, among other factors. Notably, pop and R&B/hip-hop have more commonly held sway throughout the Hot 100’s top five. Atop the album chart is Kiwi native Mel Parsons with her sixth charting album, but her first #1. Badflower "Detroit" 187 Discovered: ALT CLE, December 2024 or January 2025 This song has been kicked around as a potential for over a year, with a little trepidation because if you recall the band Badflower, they are a former winner! 'Detroit' is an incredible song but what if it doesn't live up to people's expectations? What if it gets backlash for cheapness? Turns out three other entries would hog all the backlash instead, keeping this one safe after all. Maybe it's silly to start a new phase of not caring if we qualify or not with an entry that's probably not risky at all, but it's already through to the final and ended our DNQ streak, and frankly that's all that matters. Ariana Grande Achieves Seventh No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘petal’ By Keith Caulfield | August 9, 2026 Ariana Grande earns her seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as petal premieres atop the Aug. 15-dated tally. The set launches with 295,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Aug. 6, marking the singer-songwriter’s biggest week by units in the 2020s. The set also bows with Grande’s biggest week by pure album sales in more than a decade. With a seventh No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Grande ties for the fifth-most leaders among solo women. Taylor Swift leads with 15, followed by Barbra Streisand (11), Madonna (10), Beyoncé (eight) and Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga and Grande (seven), dating to the chart’s start as a regularly published ranking in 1956. Grande previously led with Eternal Sunshine (No. 1 for three weeks in 2024), Positions (two, 2020), Thank U, Next (two, 2019), Sweetener (one, 2018), My Everything (one, 2014) and Yours Truly (2013). Further, the new album marks the entertainer’s 10th top 10 on the chart. Of petal’s 295,000 equivalent album units earned in the tracking week, album sales comprise 168,000 (Grande’s second-largest sales week ever — it debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 126,000 (equaling 128.83 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs — it also debuts at No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums) and 1,000 TEA units. Grande’s only larger album sales week was registered when My Everything debuted with 169,000 sold in 2014. The new set was released in its first week across more than 10 digital download and streaming variants (including six with assorted bonus tracks including live cuts, voice notes, a cappellas and instrumentals), 10 vinyl variants (including a signed edition), five CD variants (including a signed edition) and two cassettes. Its vinyl sales totaled 96,000 for the week — Grande’s best week on vinyl ever, and 2026’s fifth-largest week on vinyl overall. Grande’s new album was announced on April 28 and preceded by her ninth No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which debuted atop the list dated June 13. Grande is in the midst of her The Eternal Sunshine Tour, which launched on June 6 and continues through Sept. 1. The Nos. 2-7 titles on the latest Billboard 200 are all former No. 1s: Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem falls 1-2 (75,000 equivalent album units, down 6%) and Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love dips 2-3 (74,000, down 7%). The next four titles are all non-movers for the week: Ella Langley’s Dandelion is No. 4 (72,000, down 3%), Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide is No. 5 (59,000, down 5%), Drake’s ICEMAN is No. 6 (48,000, down 10%), and Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time is No. 7 (38,000, down 4%). Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving is up a spot to No. 8 (37,000 equivalent album units, up 1%), Michael Jackson’s former No. 1 Thriller falls 8-9 (36,000, down 7%), and Noah Kahan’s Stick Season is steady at No. 10 (35,000, up less than 1%).
