Nothing to be sad about! Just happy we have someone who's had years of experience on board :D

jfk is such an interesting president. it's hard to say what legacy he is with his post-death glorification. he was making such sweeping reforms and bringing about a change in social policy and general attitudes in america and botched handling of bay of pigs and the cuban missle crisis and ultimately did very little for the civil rights movement.

jfk vs lbj. people would say jkf was the better president yet i'd argue lbj did so much more...

JFK was a fucking shit President. It needed LBJ to put through the kind of reforms that everyone assumes from the glamour and iconic status would've been JFK's - although really it took JFK's death to give LBJ the momentum to bring it all through, but JFK was a man who just didn't understand the Senate, full stop.

I daresay the best modern parallel would be Obama vis a vis Hillary, hopefully...the contrast of world class rhetoric versus action.

If Hillary is half as good as her husband was then she will be a great president, Clinton was the best president of my lifetime IMHO, even better than Reagan

But she will probably be too old in 2016, shame, really respect her

Oh as IF Hillary will let age get in the way. Plus, she's essentially thrashing everyone else going in the invisible primary. It'll be a coronation* come 2016, mark my words.

*although REALLY this is probably the biggest danger although I can't imagine her making the same mistake twice given this was the plan for '08.

Probably a shoe in for the presidency if she stands too, I am more Republican than Democrat but there is no credible republican out there

Chris Christie'd stand a fighting chance (although he'd probably still lose to Hillary), but it'd take the mother of all battles by the party establishment to get him through the Republican primaries alive.

They are more likely to choose someone like that Rubio moron, a guy that raises money for an organisation to turn gay people straight, positively barmy :/

While the GOP are in the pocket of the tea party its best that Democrats have the nuclear button

Rubio has FORSAKEN PURITY and backed immigration reform, so he's now untouchable. More likely Ted Cruz if there's going to be a base fave. It'll be Cruz vs. Rand Paul vs. one of Jeb Bush or Christie, depending on which the establishment can railroad through.

i know clinton left her state position with high approval ratings but is she really held that highly in contention?

i haven't been following this at all

also lbj is possibly my favourite president of the 20th century

it's lbj / theodore roosevelt / fdr in some order

what are your thoughts on richard nixon oinkandtussle?

p.s. triple post

A poll back in Feb had her a point ahead of a generic Republican in TEXAS. (Within the margin of error GRANTED but still, TEXAS.)

That is the precise order.

CONFLICTED. I actually quite like him as Republican presidents went. It's a bit of a shame he had a dose of the GORDON BROWN psycho paranoia, because he was a pretty excellent president in foreign policy terms and domestically he was alright despite the social conservatism (I mean, it comes to something when Milton Friedman's calling you as a Republican one of the most socialist presidents of his lifetime).

i feel like he has been sold out as some sort of evil man instead of looking at what he did as a president. i remember seeing recently that he led his administration in a climate of fear and intimidation and had lists of all his enemies written down.

how much of this is all cloak and dagger i do not know but it certainly plays into that simplified almost pantomime-esque american notion of good vs evil

i am ALL FOR a 20th century PRESIDENTIAL RATE

though will we get more than 2 votes idk

Age may be an issue but Hillary Clinton will be around the same age as Reagan when he was first elected.
