June 5, 201411 yr I loved Born To Die (the album) and Paradise but no matter how hard I try I can't get into her new music and I didn't really like Tropico either <_<
June 5, 201411 yr Much as I do love Lana, 'Ultraviolence' (the song) is sheer boredom. I can't find a redeeming quality about it. :(
June 5, 201411 yr Waiting until the album to listen to Shades of Cool and the title track. It needs to leak soon plz x
June 5, 201411 yr I've never been too sure about Lana, she burst onto the scene with video games but it feels she's been distracted by the fashion world. However she's come back with this new album which is OK, but it's not going to elavate her onto the next music platform....I fear (infact i don't fear at all) that in 3-5 years time she'll hve no music career and focus on fashion.
June 5, 201411 yr Love west coast, shades of cool so much and ultraviolence could possibly be her best yet 1 and a 1/2 weeks
June 6, 201411 yr I really like 'Ultraviolence', it sounds so dreamy! Still prefer 'West Coast' and 'Shades Of Cool' at the moment though!
June 7, 201411 yr That is the song I was most excited by! :OOO Still no Born to Die or Video Games! Ta;lkin about Ultraviolence however. However I agree wit whoever said she was distracted by fashion. These songs are pretty boring and it's as if she had nothing to say, like Lady GaGa on ARTPOP or Pink/ Justin Timberlake on any album. Edited June 7, 201411 yr by Michael!
June 7, 201411 yr While I love the sound of the song Ultaviolence, I really find it lyrically off. It really is glorifying an abusive relationship and I really can't square that with my love of her music. Shades of Cool is just plain ordinary.
June 7, 201411 yr Brooklyn Baby  The best so far...I know I keep saying this all the time but seriously this is shaping to be the album of the year for me. Be ready for slayage Edited June 7, 201411 yr by Addy K!ng
June 8, 201411 yr I had a quick listen and thought they all merged into one tbh. In fact the more I hear of this, the less excited I'm becoming about it. Think I will wait until I've read a few opinions on the album before I bother with this one.
June 8, 201411 yr I'm heading the other way, the more I hear, the more excited I'm getting! Love 'Ultraviolence' now, it's sad and tragic, and completely Lana. As it becomes more well known I can see critics reacting similarly to when Florence + The Machine first released 'A Kiss With A Fist'. This whole album so far feels more relaxed and less forced than BTD, however it's still uncomfortable in places IMO, which is a feeling that's always ran through Lana's music. I find West Coast different to the other three tracks I've heard so it's hard to draw a comparison, but, I think... Shades Of Cool > Ultraviolence > West Coast >>> Brooklyn Baby I do really like all four so far though.
June 12, 201411 yr Apparently this has leaked. I really like West Coast now and Ultraviolence (the song) as well, so I'd be interested in hearing it on the basis of those two songs.
June 12, 201411 yr New Black Beauty is amazing. I mean, the potential was always there but I didn't expect it to be THAT good. It's up there with most of the Born To Die songs for me. The rest of the album has such a different vibe to BTD that it's hard to compare the two. I love the production but there doesn't seem to be as many instant hooks. Not that this is a bad thing...at first I thought Shades of Cool was pretty weak but it's grown on me immensely. The songs that initially stuck out to me (other than the singles so far) are: Black Beauty f***ed My Way To The Top Money Power Glory Old Money
June 12, 201411 yr Yes does anyone have a link please? Can't wait for this album and I absolutely adore Lana, the song 'Ultraviolence' is sublime.
