Posted August 30, 200619 yr Timberlake targeting first number one single Source Music Week Justin Timberlake is eyeing his first ever UK number one single as he bids to hold off Shakira and the Scissor Sisters this coming weekend. The RCA Group-issued Sexyback has taken an early lead, according to retail reports, but faces competition from the same company’s Shakira smash Hips Don’t Lie and Polydor’s Scissor Sisters whose I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ is poised to have the biggest impact on the chart for a download-only release since Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy. Sexyback is one of a number of tracks set to enjoy significant chart climbs having debuted last Sunday on download-only sales and now being made available physically, too. The list also includes Fallout/Island’s Fratellis whose Chelsea Dagger is targeting a top five spot, Island’s The Feeling with Never Be Lonely and RCA Group’s Pink with U & Ur Hand and Sandi Thom with What If I’m Right. The current number one, the RCA Group’s Beyonce featuring Jay-Z hit Déjà Vu, is expected to make a sizable fall after just a week at the top. Dreamworks/Polydor act Nelly Furtado is set to return to the chart following the physical deletion and subsequent exclusion of her chart-topping Maneater with her Billboard Hot 100 number one Promiscuous expected to debut inside the Top 20 on download-only sales. In an otherwise quiet week for new entries, V2 act Little Man Tate’s Hose Party At Boothy’s is also heading for a Top 40 debut. Over on albums Columbia is targeting two new entries in the top three with Kasabian’s Empire leading the field and Bob Dylan’s Modern Times aiming to give the veteran singer-songwriter back-to-back top three hits with studio albums for the first time since Slow Train Coming (1979) and Saved (1980). EMI’s Iron Maiden are looking to join the two Columbia acts in the top three with their new album A Matter Of Life And Death. RCA Group’s Pink and Warner Bros signings Muse are aiming to make returns to the Top 10 with their respective albums I’m Not Dead and Black Holes & Revelations, while the only other acts realistically challenging for Top 40 entries are Bad Boy/Atlantic’s Cassie and Phonogenic/Sony BMG’s Maria Lawson. ==================================================================== Singles 01 Justin Timberlake - Sexyback 02 Shakira feat. September 1, 200619 yr Ooo, how much is Justin set to do? Nice to see the Scissor Sisters climbing from #05. I'm guessing they'll over-take Beyonce. If Pink goes top 10, where, realistically will her top 10 placing be?
