January 3, 201411 yr I don't know if I missed something but why couldn't Journals chart? Should've been top 5 going by those sales.
January 3, 201411 yr 'Unconditionally' may have done terribly on the singles chart but it seems to have really helped Prism hold up over Christmas.
January 3, 201411 yr Author I don't know if I missed something but why couldn't Journals chart? Should've been top 5 going by those sales. iTunes didn't report the sales, presumably at the request of his record company.
January 3, 201411 yr iTunes didn't report the sales, presumably at the request of his record company. Ah interesting, thanks! Very strange.
January 4, 201411 yr Author Didn't expect Miley to be as high as #22 with "Adore You", but very happy! :D She would have been higher if it wasn't for the high digital sales this week.

January 5, 201411 yr That contrast between 'Cruise' being a top 5 of the year in the USA vs. a blink-and-you'll-miss-it #75 'hit' in the UK  Absolutely horrific song though so thank God for the UK's anti-country bias. Lorde just about sneaking into that top 5 *.*
January 5, 201411 yr Have we had any digital sales info for Do What U Want recently? I'm quite interested to know how much it's on now, but haven't seen any for a while.
January 5, 201411 yr Why are "digital" songs reported separately? Is there still a physical market in the US? (And of course, CD's are digital anyway!)
January 5, 201411 yr Why are "digital" songs reported separately? Is there still a physical market in the US? (And of course, CD's are digital anyway!) 'Digital' is interchangeable with 'sales'. I guess it just sounds better.
January 5, 201411 yr Lorde just about sneaking into that top 5 *.* There was even close fight to get # 10 on album chart Jay Z's "Magna Carta…Holy Grail" is #10 1,099,000 Mumford & Sons' "Babel" 1,096,000 Midnight Memories 1,096,000 So One Direction sold around 200 copies less than Robbie, and didn't have christmas album no.1, and now they sold few hundreds copies less than M&S to be best british artist in usa. Edited January 5, 201411 yr by Tommy
January 5, 201411 yr 'Digital' is interchangeable with 'sales'. I guess it just sounds better. Thanks, i was looking at the lines with two sales figures, and was putting two and two together and making five. I now realise the different sales figures relate to songs released before 2013 and the difference is the 2012 sales.
January 5, 201411 yr Author Thanks, i was looking at the lines with two sales figures, and was putting two and two together and making five. I now realise the different sales figures relate to songs released before 2013 and the difference is the 2012 sales. With regards to songs: Billboard & Soundscan refer to downloads as digital (Digital Songs). There is a separate physical chart, but those sales are minuscule (Hot Singles Sales).
