The Maltese broadcaster has revealed the 20 participants that will take place in the 2014 Eurovision national selection! Will any of these give Malta their first Eurovision win following their Junior Eurovision win a few weeks ago?

The twenty participants:

Amber – Because I Have You

Andreana Debattista – Now and Forever

Chris Grech – Oblivion

Christabella - Lovetricity

Corazon – Ten

Daniel Testa – One Last Ride

Davinia – Brand New Day

Debbie Stivala – Pin The Middle

Deborah C – Until We Meet Again

Fabrizio Faniello - Just No Place Like Home

Firelight – Coming Home

Franklin – Love Will Take Me Home

Jessika - Hypnotica

Miriam Christine – Safe

Pamela – Take Me

Raquel Galdes - Invisible

Romina Mamo – Addictive

Ryan Paul Abela – City Lady

Sophie – Let The Sunshine In

Wayne William – Some Kind of Wonderful

Among the lucky ones, we see some familiar faces. Miriam Christine represented Malta in 1996, Fabrizio Faniello did the same in 2001 and 2006 and several former national final entrants have also been announced as participants. These twenty will compete in a semifinal on 7 February. Fourteen of these will then qualify for the final on 8 February.

I've only listened to 'Hypnotica' so far as I read comments comparing it with 'Euphoria'! I definitely see the similarities in the instrumentals, and while it isn't as amazing as 'Euphoria' of course - it's still a very good song! :D

Hypnotica is SHAMELESS

But so is this national selection and as such it is naturally my pick for the Maltese entry for the CSC *.*

My favourite song won!!! Firelight with 'Coming Home':

It's definitely got that Mumford & Sons sound, but I love it!

Nice enough, I suppose it was only a matter of time before songs like this started to pop up in Eurovision.
Yeah, really weak Mumford & Sons pastiche at this point. I've underrated Maltese entries before (I think I disliked Gianluca right up until the final night) but this doesn't sound like it's going anywhere and while I like this kind of music sometimes it's definitely not the strongest example.
Well, I at least rather like this (I don't see it doing great things score-wise but then I didn't think that about Malta last year and they came top 10!).

This is apparently the new version of 'Coming Home':

And here is the official music video for 'Coming Home' with the new version of the song:

It's a very thought-provoking and emotional video and really adds extra meaning to the song. I really think this is going to do very well in Eurovision and it really deserves to!

I'm reacting to this in the same way I did to "Only Teardrops" last year - winner! Having heard all the other entries, I genuinely think this is a possible winner. Malta have been at this for many years and have come close to winning on at least 2 occasions, so why not now?

The odds are against them but they have been known to be drastically wrong in the past.

That said, I cannot stand folk music!!

I'm surprised that the odds aren't better for it, the new version is very good. I'm not sure that the chorus has quite enough going for it for the song to be a winner, although the verses and the woman's part are brilliant.
The Maltese entry is pretty good, they are probably contenders to win the contest, its a very folky track, the female vocals gives the track more omph at the end, in a way it gives a special message regarding war and peace across the world so it will reach out to other countries, their best track for ages.

I think this could have an outside chance of a win too, and is a very likely top 10 finisher!
