Hot New Releases - Single Reviews

Welcome y'all! :D As the title suggests, here I shall be reviewing the singles that are looking to make a good impression on the chart each week.

Any comments or reviews of your own would be very appreciated, as well your thoughts on the artist's previous material and how it compares to their current record etc.

I'll be posting the week's new releases each Sunday, perhaps around midday so I have an idea what is going to be a hit at the end of the week.

Elyar Fox - 'Do It All Over Again'

Album: N/A

He's already gathered himself a fan base predominately of teen girls on YouTube and now 18 year old Elyar Fox is releasing his debut single 'Do It All Over Again'. I was automatically put off him just from that description and after hearing the song, my opinion hasn't really changed. Admittedly it's reasonably catchy however it has a dated sound with all the electro wizardry and the lyrics are pretty uninspiring. Nevertheless if you're a fan of teen pop icons then this would be one to check out.

will.i.am's 'Feelin' Myself' was due for release this week but was moved back two weeks.

Bump, well will.i.am's new single was moved in the end as far as I know.

Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne - 'Rather Be'

Album: N/A

They've recently gained the highest iTunes position for a pre-order and now Clean Bandit are on their way for their first #1 with 'Rather Be'. Their unique style incorporates house music with classical yet despite the one 'untrendy' genre, it sounds so fresh and is just what the chart needs. You may recognise the band name from their breakthrough hit 'Mozart's House' which again mixes dance and violins, however that sounds a little more hip-hop. I think 'Rather Be' is their best so far, it seems to flow better for me plus I think the vocals of Jess Glynne sounds nicer than the previous male ones. Jess also features on a track by Route 94 called 'My Love' - I prefer 'Rather Be' but you may want to check it out.

Neon Jungle - 'Braveheart'

Album: N/A

Follow up to 'Trouble', the success of 'Braveheart' on iTunes so far suggests that Neon Jungle may be around a little longer than expected. It continues the EDM sound, a little dated to my ears; the beat kind of reminds me of Example's music. A rap has been inserted although it would probably be better if it sounded like the 'rap' in 'Trouble'. I'm not really a fan of this record, it lacks the attitude and potential that was in their previous single. I doubt it will stick around too long in the charts but it's received a positive reaction from many on Buzzjack so far.

The Vamps - 'Wild Heart'

Album: N/A

To those outside their fanbase, The Vamps' chart debut with 'Can We Dance' last October may have come as a big surprise. They're now back with - like last time - a thousand and one versions of 'Wild Heart'. This single has a guitar beat, kind of Mumford & Sons-esque but boyband-ified, and with its jolly chorus, it results in another catchy tune that will stick in your head regardless of whether you want it there or not. One of the many versions includes an acoustic version featuring Pixie Lott which I think is a great vocal performance!

For some reason I do prefer "Rather Be"... "My Love" just lacks vocals
