Jhené's debut album confirmed to be coming in May. Following on from the delightful 'Sail Out' EP.

"I have a song called 'Promises' with my daughter Namiko Love. That, right now, is my favourite one."

Think this could be very successful for her if she plays it right (in the US at least). She already proved there's interest with the EP charting in the top 10 there.

First single. Gorgeous as ever, I know it will worm its way under my skin and rest there for months no doubt...

I could listen to her voice forever really.

The album is OUT THERE.

Randy where have you been, you're slacking by not telling me this!?

I was never really that on board with Jhene, as much as I thought 'The Worst' was pleasant I never really got the hype and wasn't blown away by the 'Sailed Out' EP either. Tinashe for me was juts doing this type of thing so much better.

Giving this a listen now though, I have to say this really is excellent. The overall album flows so well into each other, with each individual song having enough individuality to not all fade into one (one of my main problems with her EP). I think my album highlights are 'Lyin King' and 'Eternal Sunshine' so far but honestly everything is so good it will inevitably change. This will probably be on repeat for the next few months (well at least till Aquarius :kink:)

I want to love this a lot more than i currently do, but on first listen it's just nice. It is the sort of thing that gradually gets into you though, so i am not ruling it out just yet by any means. Some early highlights are 'Brave' and 'Promises' but i will wait until returning to it a few times before fully judging.

The main highlight is her voice though which remains soft as silk throughout.

This is the latest single from the album:

v much in love with it rn, shall be downloading the album shortly

Been on repeat all day and it something quite extraordinary with several strong points.

She's a very mature and gifted songwriter. Her lyrics are so uplifting, personal, genuine, intelligent and easy to relate with. Quotable lyricism for those down and out status updates, many of which bring about an almost anthemic feel to some of the heartbreak-themed songs.

Musically, it has those piano touches just where you need them. Absolutely lush production too with such enticing sound effects. Perfect harmonies and gorgeous slow winding melodies. Heavy bass here and there which compliments her stunning, delicate voice so well. Her voice is like honey (lol), so so easy on the ear. She has impeccable flow also. You could listen to her for hours on end. The songs aren't made for mainstream radio though, many lacking a catchy hook. Though that is what actually makes this record so appealing.

Side note: this isn't your typical R&B album, it's not pop either, but simply just Jhené Aiko.

I did get it a lot more the second time round but it still hasn't *wowed* me.

If anything it's made me fall in love with 'Sail Out' allll over again. I forgot how simply stunning the EP is

'Brave' is too damn beautifulll.

Nothing else has really stood out yet but that's probably because I keep going back to 'Brave' instead of giving the rest a listen. TOO GOOD.

oh no sweet pea EVERYTHING is so lush

It all refuses to stop growing on me  'Promises' is so f***ing cute, and I've got 'Wading' now on repeat too, 'Eternal Sunshine' really clicked with me this week too

can't get enough

This album is perfect. Not a single flaw, oh my.

(I didn't think anything would surpass Sail Out).

So in love with 'Beautiful Ruin'! Definitely one of the highlights, shame it's only a bonus track.

Okay so I'm pretty sure this is now my favourite album of the year (or at least up there).

Love the whole chilled out vibe and it all flows so well. It seemed a bit samey for me at first but on repeated listens it just means it's more cohesive as a package. SO GOOD.
