I think people do need to look outside the UK, as in international group they've done well, particularly in Asia etc, I won't repeat what others have said though.

Yes, it is a bit early for a greatest hits but that probably ties in with t.A.T.u's split from Universal/Interscope, 200 km/h... was a decent album too imo, certainly origional pop music on there, D&M admitedly less so -_-

This sucks. Admitidly I didn't get the 2nd album but they were cool and making original pop.
the first album was great, sold 4 000 000 copies, the last one is c**p!
But if they loose Trevor Horn than their sound won't be the same.

Not a shock, but some of their songs were good! It's WAY WAY WAY too early for a best of, they've had 4 singles :|

Only 4 that were released in the UK.

This album is for release worldwide. They've had 7 hits in most of Europe.

Well like some of said the songs sound so much cooler in Russain.

Bless their hearts.

The fake lesbian thing can't go on forever there's only so many songs you can release about forbidden Lesbian Love

Plus they've had what a massive #1 here followed by 2 minor top 10 hits and the smash hit that is 'Friend Or Foe'?

I feel that it was Trevor Horne who accentuated the whole 'fake lesbian' angle to sell them to pervy old men and the girls were just too young and naive to see what he was doing, he totally exploited them. I always got the impression that in the "All About Us" vid, the bloke that Elena blows away in the bedroom is a stand-in for Trevor....

Best thing they did was ditching him and standing on their own two feet. "Dangerous and Moving" is a much more grown-up and mature album...

Well yes alot of people in this thread are once again only looking at the uk and the usa.. if you look at japan, russia, mainland europe you will see that they were very big and that they sold alot, they will also prob be signed to another label in some way even if they do go solo. They have had more thaan 4 singles and more than 2 albums.. just not in the uk/usa but that doesn't matter when we are not there target audience.

Exactly - the Russian/Eastern European/Japanese market is certainly a lot bigger in terms of combined potential than the UK/US market... There is WAY too much US/UK-centricity amongst people, as if music begins and ends with UK or US acts. A lot of the bands/artists that I'm listening to these days are from mainland Europe/Scandinavia, my Polish girlfriend is getting me into a lot of Polish and Russian metal bands as well...

lol At least you are getting to hear of a wider range of acts :P

Russia :P

sold over 2 million worldwide srprisingly :o

I think it was Trevor Horn that made the 'lesbian' thing, theyve even said themselves they didn't like it, but they were first signed when they were 14 so they didn't have much say in how theyw ere marketed im guessing. The growth from 200 KM/H to D&M is really great though, you can tell they're much happier with it, and even talk about not wanting to reach the heights they reached previously, and how they are happy with what they've done in their past work

Selling "only" 2 million albums is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, at least now they actually know who their real fans are and who the dirty old men who merely wanted to perv off two teenage "lesbians" in school uniform and had no interest in the music are..... <_< "Dangerous and Moving" is a certainly more serious album with a more grown-up sound. Presumably the peadophiles who were 'into' them before aren't interested in grown-up Pop Acts and moved on to Jo Jo....

And I'm quite disgusted at Trevor Horn really, let's face it, there is no way in HELL he'd've gotten away with doing that with two teenage boys cavorting around pretending to be gay. Also the fact that they were Russian as well makes it even worse when you consider the amount of exploitation of young Eastern European girls in the sex industry in Western Europe. I defintitely doubt also that he would've gotten away with exploiting a pair of British girls like that.... <_<

exactly, in a way the way they were marketed was almost a showcase for the eastern european sex industry, and the fact they were russian makes it worse, as most girls forced into the sex industry are from places like that who were promised a better life. It wouldnt surprise me if Trevor Horn delved into the world we speak of tbh -_-

Dangerous & Moving is a mature pop album, and I find it much better the 200 KM/H. Songs like 'All About Us' 'Dangerous & Mocing' & 'Cosmos' show

Totally agree with you. I just couldn't even listen to Tatu for YEARS, the whole idea just left a very nasty taste in my mouth. But my Polish girlfriend is a fan and she's kinda convinced me to concentrate on the actual music more, rather than the idea. I still prefer the second album over the first though....

...and I'd still give Trevor Horn a good kicking if I ever met him.....

 i felt the same, although I liked the songs, the image grated on me very quickly and I ended up not listening to them for a long time
