They both probably wouldn't have been able to agree fees or neither side wanted to take a risk on each player so they've swapped them on loan to take a look at them.

 

Even though I think Reyes is a better player than Baptista, theres no point having a player that doesn't want to be at the club there, so its a good deal for Arsenal if it gets confirmed.

They're basically saying they have heard that it apparently might happen ;)

The first edition of The Sun has arrived at 2230 and it claims that Arsenal have accepted a deal of £5m plus William Gallas for Ashley Cole from Chelsea.

Well that's what got me. Gallas was supposedly priced at £11m and Arsenal were demanding at least £20m so it doesn't really add up.

Well I guess it'll all come clear soon, I mean there only 35 minutes until the transfer window shuts, but I was thinking that Arsenal valued Cole at around 30 million and Gallas is valued at around 11M. So I duuno whether its genuine or not but I guess we'll find out soon.

You lot have had a damn good window tbh, Clichy is not far off as good as Cole so Cole not a massive loss for you and you get Gallas who with Toure will provide the best centre pairing in the premiership plus Baptista will get you goals

 

Serious challengers for runners up I would say

I don't, they're still a fair few players off being anywhere near Liverpool and Man Utd for me. The squad they have ain't really any better than the one they had last season, which only just managed to scrape 4th. Though they have got a centre-half which was certainly what they needed most... I still think that in 2 weeks time we'll see that they're still a fair bif off Utd and they'll be lingering about 15th in the table with 4 pts from 4 games.

I was expecting the transfer fee to be closer to 10M than 5M but I guess Arsenal fans won't be complaning, as they've got Gallas who is one of the best defenders in the premiership.

So did the Robert Huth transfer to Middlesbrough still go through after this? :unsure:
