February 22, 201411 yr Author Reflektor or Do I Wanna Know? to win. Great to see The Throw so high, and Breathe This Air top 20 too. You have the same London Grammar song at 7 & 11. I'm guessing one should be Strong? Hope it's the higher of the two! Good to see Pompeii missed out on the top 5. Yep Strong was at #11. Now sorted. Thank you!
February 23, 201411 yr Author 5. (420) Foals - My Number bAsGFnLl2u0 Down to the top 5 and Foals fill the 1st of the last five spots. Actually managing to breach the Top 30 this confirmed Foals in the top drawer of indie bands.
February 23, 201411 yr Author 4. (427) Arctic Monkeys - Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? 6366dxFf-Os The second highest of the Monkeys' tracks, another great track from the surprisingly reilient (chart-wise) album AM.
February 23, 201411 yr Author So it's the Monkeys vs Arcade Fire vs Chvrches for the winner. Top 3 up later.
February 23, 201411 yr 'Inhaler' is twice the song that 'My Number' is (I can see why 'My Number' would appeal to more people, though), baffling how 1975 is even in a top chart of any kind and I reckon Arcade will take the prize home.

I agree with you, but "Inhaler" was released in 2012 (which is the reason it doesn't appear here!)
February 23, 201411 yr I don't recall there being one for 2012? I know I did 2010 & 2011. Reckon it would be good to do one retrospectively.

I find quite a few of these songs baffling but I guess that's because I am an old fart.

Maybe we should do one then. I've got something on the go after this but there's no real rush is there? Only a year late.
February 23, 201411 yr ooo yay living like im 21 again. was 2012 a good indie year? it must have been a better year than 2013...
February 23, 201411 yr Author After a brief look it was Lana Del Rey, Crystal Castles, St. Vincent, Alt-J, Jack White, Chvrches first single, The Drums, Beach House, Grimes, Tame Impala, Justice, forever waiting for M.I.A. ...

You missed off Purity Ring. Not often you get 3 class singles such as "Fineshrine", "Lofticries" and "Obedear" all in the same year from 1 act.
February 23, 201411 yr You missed off Purity Ring. Not often you get 3 class singles such as "Fineshrine", "Lofticries" and "Obedear" all in the same year from 1 act. on the down side it also creates massive expectations that are impossible to meet :(
February 24, 201411 yr Author 3. (466) Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know? bpOSxM0rNPM So the last Monkeys track reaches #3. This was the first Top 20 hit for 4 years and signalled a renaissance in their fortunes.
February 24, 201411 yr Author 2. (476) Arcade Fire - Reflektor 7E0fVfectDo Probably the song a lot of people thought would be the #1, it was pipped at the post by someone else.
February 24, 201411 yr Author 1. (491) Chvrches - The Mother We Share gV9c6gBK6CU So there we have it. Your song of the year. Chvrches were definitely one of the breakout bands of the year and it's quite nice one of the young upstarts has beaten out some of the other more "veteran" acts.
February 24, 201411 yr :o I really thought Reflektor had it all wrapped up. Brilliant top 3, all of them though, thanks for doing this Grebo.
