April 9, 201411 yr Panic includes a list of place names as does It's Grim Up North by The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu aka The KLF. Their Justified And Ancient is wonderful but too obvious so I'll go for Last Train To Trancentral instead. _hnYKTys8rU
April 9, 201411 yr Bill Drummond founded the Zoo Record label with his pal and bandmate in Big In Japan Dave Balfe. Balfe was also a member of The Teardrop Explodes who released their first three singles on Zoo...and then went on to bigger things when they signed to a major...and since popchartfreak wanted to go directly there from Julian Cope but couldn't do it... wNnQTaX4iLw
April 10, 201411 yr Author aah thanks Richie! Well, the plural of story is Stories. The Stories had a US number one with Hot Chocolate's Brother Louie. The first UK chart record I went mad on after 2 years in Singapore was this one: Hot Chocolate's I Believe (In Love). Soundtrack poor, but then it's virtually all that's left of the first 4 years of their career (thanks for nothing BBC!). So good the Beatles signed them up to their record label...... gnBJzA2kR8Y
April 11, 201411 yr Hot Chocolate is made with cocoa...and if you really love it that'd make you a cocoa-nut and, presumably, free to join Kid Creole's backing band. h-NGlOB4hJA
April 11, 201411 yr Author Garbage? Definitely not rubbish. Modern Life is Rubbish? Blur! To The End...! 0DjHKqb365A&feature=kp
April 11, 201411 yr Great timing while some of Blur's Glastonbury 2009 set is on BBC4. One of the side projects of the genius who is Damon Albarn has been The Good The Bad And The Queen which also featured Paul Simonon of The Clash. So here they are with Bankrobber dSl0w5Cqj-Y
April 13, 201411 yr Aswell as someone robbing money, some one might rob your girlfriend, in which case you might say 516aM-mXusw
April 13, 201411 yr Author the campbell brothers of UB40 lent more than a hand to Pat O'Banton, I could go Eddy Grant or I could go UB40... Oh this one's so delicious let's go to Kingston Town iLyP9HX33Dg
April 13, 201411 yr Kingston is the capital of Jamaica, part of the West Indies. Another island in the West Indies is Barbados, immortalised in song by Typically Tropical :D 5ALD-rI8Q08
April 14, 201411 yr Although the Vengaboys jumped straight into my head, I managed to get them out. Since we're moving about the West Indies let's take a bit of time to watch the cricket... VBG8rIVIUNE
April 14, 201411 yr For many people MGs means cars, i.e. Morris garages. An alternative word for cars is Motors so here is their 1978 hit Airport 02HTLiC0sRo
April 14, 201411 yr Author Airport was a 1970 disaster movie with an all-star cast. I could have gone Dean Martin, or Paint Your Wagon via jean Seberg, but instead I'm going Jacqueline Bisset and her underwater 1977 movie The Deep, and the John Barry theme song by Donna Summer.. i7gKJItMomE
April 14, 201411 yr That means we can't use Donna Summer's finest work :( Many of her best songs were produced by Giorgio Moroder who also produced Sparks' brilliant Plagiarism album. Here's an extended version of Number One Song In Heaven produced by the great man. HVa1TBhT5j0
April 15, 201411 yr One of Giorgio Moroder's early singles was a cover of 'Mah Na Mah Na' by Piero Umiliani. It is a very silly song, and this routine by Legs & Co has to be seen to be believed. (Apologies for Percy Savile at the beginning, just skip him) aliwouBzbAM
April 15, 201411 yr Author The model fronting the video was famously not the sampled vocalist. In 1975 the actual singer of I'm On Fire was replaced by a blonde miming along for Top Of The Pops performances by 5000 Volts. Naughty naughty, it was actually Tina Charles who got her own back (a number one) after suffering comments along the line of "chubby". I'm not saying that's the reason, but....here's a German Tv appearance with the real singer and it takes even them about half the song before they show poor ol Tina, who isnt at all chubby. Its a great Brit disco pop record, quite a rare thing in those days... eye0mXrl_Po&feature=kp
April 15, 201411 yr Hmm, I could choose from two of my all-time favourite acts here. After all, Bruce Springsteen also recorded a song called I'm On Fire. However, I'm going to go for 5000 Volts as a measure of Electricity which brings us to the duo from The Wirral, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark and a song of that name. Y43XLVqjytQ
April 16, 201411 yr Surprisingly, 'Electricity' was produced by Martin Hannett and released on Factory Records before OMD went up the mainstream. I'm kinda forgetting who we've already had from Factory...but I'm pretty sure we haven't yet heard from Northside with the baggy anthem 'Shall We Take a Trip' iuAd0wGEYlE
April 16, 201411 yr Author when i hear "trip" I think immediately of S'Express and the groundbreakingly exciting reworking of Rose Royce Theme From S'Express! zKCW3RJNRIw
