Surely the exact same logic applied to 'Random Access Memories'? The only difference here is it's had less time to build up pre-orders (hence I don't expect it to quite match Daft Punk's album sales but I think it's certain to do at least 80k or so if not 100k+).

80k would be less than half of 'Random Access Memories' so Pharrell would still be way off, even with 100k+!

 

'Happy' will have sold 350k-ish more than 'Get Lucky' at the time of the parent album's release so I don't think their situations are that comparable. Plus I think Daft Punk appeal to a more album-buying demographic. Pharrell, despite his age and career with N.E.R.D etc, is a relatively new artist in the minds of much of the general public.

 

I can't see it debuting on any more than 50-60k but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Now up to 37 - I doubt we'll see such unanimity again until Adele's next album... :)

Anyone given it a listen through yet? I put my pre-order in on Play.com Wednesday night and received my copy in the post yesterday!

 

While the falsetto on all 10 tracks might put a few people off, the album is sure to be a good seller in the long run; plenty of single potential on there to. 'G I R L' > 'Random Access Memories' for me, and that's only after 2 full plays through; deserves to be selling 100k next week!
