I always knew it'd fail tbh. I was one of the two that voted no.

Poor Pharrell. Third wind?

How many weeks has the song been #1 on airplay? It's had 15 weeks at #1 in the UK, 4 more than any other song ever :o

But you created the poll

And I quote:

... so personally I think Pharrell breaking the airplay record is not only possible but likely.

IT WAS AN ILLUSION

Only 6 weeks at #1 so far, so nothing too spectacular just yet, but of course it has quite a while left on top!

  • 3 weeks later...

highest weekly audience - all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS:

  • 228.9 million, "Blurred Lines," Robin Thicke (featuring T.I. + Pharrell) (Aug. 31, 2013)
  • 225.9 million, "Happy," Pharrell Williams (April 12, 2014)
  • 212.2 million, "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey (July 9, 2005)
  • 196.3 million, "Irreplaceable," Beyonce (Jan. 20, 2007)
  • 195 million, "All Of Me," John Legend (May 3, 2014)
John Legend has been somewhat overshadowed by Pharrell.

I knew that would happen, I think I commented a while back that it was somewhat incredible how there were two airplay hits on this scale at the exact same time :o Not really sure how much further John can go, I'm pretty sure he'll land somewhere between Mariah and Beyoncé but that's still incredible and surprising, as the song is not a digital behemoth like 'Happy' is.
