March 6, 201411 yr Author Umi's Chart highlights: Schoolboy Q's "Oxymoron" got the largest debut for a rap album since Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" clocked an opening week of 792,000 in November 2013.It is already Schoolboy Q's best-selling album - "Setbacks" of 2011 and "Habits & Contradictions" of 2012 have sold 17,000 and 48,000, respectively.2NE1 have broken the record for highest charting K-Pop release as their album "Crush" débuts at #61.Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending March 2) totaled 5.1 million units, up 5% compared with the sum last week (4.8 million) and down 13% compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (5.8 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 42.8 million, down 15% compared with the same total at this point last year (50.4 million).Source: Billboard
March 6, 201411 yr Author BILLBOARD 200 RE 94 Jake Bugg - Shangri La RE 200 Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg Is Jake Bugg on tour?
March 6, 201411 yr Author He performed on American Idol last week. I'm not impressed with the finalists this year, so I've stopped watching
March 6, 201411 yr Yay for a slight Jake Bugg resurgence! :cheer: Must check out his performance actually. Loving how well Kacey Musgraves has done with her album, it's so very very good
March 6, 201411 yr Extremely busy week, I hope Beyoncé isn't pushed out of the top 10 next week :o I expect she'll reach 2x Platinum within 8/9 weeks, which would make this her first album to gain a higher certification than the preceding album ('4' took quite a while to scrape over a million and didn't push much further). Very much deserved of course, I really hope 'Partition' can keep it afloat and maybe even give it a shot at 3x Platinum in the future. Interesting to note that '21' has spent over 3 years on the chart now and every single one of its 158 weeks has been spent top 100 :o Actually much more impressive longevity than in the UK where it keeps bobbing in an out, which is somewhat baffling!
March 7, 201411 yr Boo at the Frozen soundtrack. Thank God it's not eligible for the UK chart or I guess it would probably be doing similarly here (a la the Les Misérables soundtrack with its 4 weeks at #1). What are the total sales of 'Bad Blood' like now? I see it seems to have had a decent chart run, hopefully it can eventually break into the top 10 (debuted at #11 and climbed back as high as #12 a few weeks back, though obviously currently falling again).
March 7, 201411 yr Author Britney Spears - Britney Jean (241,000) I'd estimate she sold around 2,000 this week. Danielle Bradbery sold approx 2,000 at #180 on the Top Current Albums chart, and Britney is 1 place below her at #181. Neither are on the Billboard 200. (Jake Bugg at #200 on the Billboard 200, is #153 on the Top Current Albums chart)
