Not quite top 5 for Jessica but #6 is still very impressive :o I'm not actually a big fan or anything but it's nice to see her doing well when she seemed to be on the way out.

 

Looks like that's definitely it for 'Happy', it's #4 on iTunes right now and should obviously be losing momentum, whereas Sia is gaining it.

Yay, Sia. Hope she's able to replicate that success in the US and UK. :D

Honestly can't think of any time that it's happened on both charts at the same time. After the 2012 Voice finale, the whole top 5 singles were Australian, and then a month later, there were 4/5 for the album chart (3 of the 4 being Voice contestants).

Well it's good to see, I hope it's something that won't look like a complete anomaly a few months down the line!

It's slowing down a bit now, but on the horizon there's David Guetta & Showtek's "Bad" (with an Aussie vocalist! :P), and Justice Crew's "Que Sera" looks to debut right at the top based on pre-orders in a couple of weeks. And on the albums, Iggy Azalea's pre-order has picked up a lot so she might be able to challenge The Vamps for #1. A little later on, The Amity Affliction look like a lock at #1, while maybe Thundamentals can get close in a couple of weeks. Sia I think has an album coming, and maybe 5SOS have something new on the horizon too which will surely do well. And of course, The Voice is going to start soon, although that's mainly helped international artists more than anything else :P

Katy Perry top 40 already with 'Birthday' is somehow not surprising :P Look forward to it going to #1 here.

I can't see Birthday going to #1 just because she only ever goes to #1 here with her lead singles, and this one is a bit slow out the gate by her standards.

-"Not A Bad Thing" matches the peak of "Mirrors" and is only one place behind "Suit & Tie"'s #9 peak

-But JT may fall prey to a common occurance lately, and just sneak one week in the top 10, much like "The Man", "Wild Wild Love", "Best Day Of My Life", and just this week, "Replay" & "Tsunami (Jump)" have.

-This week's album chart is heavily influenced by iTunes discounts and advertising, hence the big moves from Jessica Mauboy, Nickelback & Jason Derulo in particular, which will revert next week

-Chet Faker holding is no surprise, as he debuted on about 16,000 sales, well ahead of the competition, but he's the first Australian to debut at #1 and stay the next week in nearly 2 years

I guess with perspective though, Prism is the only album released since the start of 2013 to go triple platinum, and has spent most of its chart life lodged in the top 10, which makes up for the fact that it's *technically* only scored 1 top 10 hit. I'm bad at calling these things, but I can see "Birthday" peaking around #15-#20. Worth noting too, "Dark Horse" just this week finally left the digital top 40, it's probably about 5xPlatinum.
