Pity Paloma's let go of the top spot already but it's nice to see 'Prayer In C' spreading past Europe and Katy Perry top 40 at least somewhere!

How embarrassing for The Voice. After the first two seasons' winners netted multi-week #1s with around 15-30K sold in their opening week, this year's winner debuts at #11, probably barely scanning over 2,000. :drama:

 

It also seems like they accidentally promoted the wrong Maroon 5 single on iTunes last week. Maps got a new peak, but just over a day later, it's gone from #29 to #44 on iTunes, and It Was Always You has jumped from #89 to #46 :P

Has the show lost a lot of popularity this year or is it just an unpopular winner? It's impressive they've actually had such success in the past, I know the winners of pretty much every other version would love a #11 album :lol:

Everyone seemed to resent Anja winning from what I saw, I thought she was much better than the others but I didn't see many people happy that she won! So maybe people weren't interested in her album, but then people voted for her to win sooo... It doesn't have any original songs on it though, just a few new covers I think. I know the other couple of winners at least had their winner's songs! Anja was meant to release an electro pop song written by Delta Goodrem for her debut single but they cancelled it, I think it was a day or two before the release even, because it "didn't suit her" (or so she said).

I haven't paid much attention to The Voice this year outside of what gets into the chart, so I don't know much about Anja; she only charted once in the top 60 singles. From what I understand though, The Voice was still getting strong ratings, but not blockbuster ratings like the first two seasons. I think the problem is just that by the 3rd year, the repeated format gets tired for people, a bit like how Glee was all over the top 50 for its first two seasons, and then by season 3, the ratings didn't drop off heaps, but they totally disappeared from the chart. Will be interesting to see how X Factor fares at the end of the year, since that's maintained its relevance quite well, though the winner singles (while all going #1) have been quickly dropping in total sales.

It's really nice to see 'Prayer In C' expanding outside Europe further, this is another top 10 to the resume and I'm sure a top 5 or even #1 peak is in order. Surprised 'Jubel' is only smashing now though :o

It's a shame Dami came so close but didn't make top 10 :( I expected it though, the X-Factor boost was great but obviously wasn't quite enough.
