It's nice to see Kimbra continuing to live a career based solely on being a featured artist on a hit from a couple years back. Good for her.

She's quite popular in her own right, she got three additional tracks of her own in this very popular countdown in 2011. I actually expected she'd do a bit better here but I think the lead single scared too many people off :(

 

Also worth mentioning for last week, Hilltop Hoods only just narrowly fell short of Ed Sheeran's tally for the biggest debut on the albums chart, and it's very impressive that their last 3 albums have all spent 2 weeks at the top!

He's always been quite big in Australia, I guess like Will Young in his first couple of eras but for longer! I'm sure his winner's single is one of the biggest selling singles ever in Australia.

It's nowhere near one of the biggest sellers. It sold 280k in total.

Battle Scars is tho, with 9x platinum (630k I think?)

His winner's single was the highest seller of the decade ('00-'09), but since the digital boom it's a bit less impressive and Guy himself has outdone it at least a couple of times :P Battle Scars is of course only behind Gotye as far as Australian singles go, and it's hard to see anything coming remotely close to overtaking it short of some sort of chart overhaul.

Really close on the album chart this week. Vance Joy did 10,500 which was just 500 ahead of #2. On the other hand, Taylor beat Meghan on singles 28K to 23K, though Meghan will probably be back to #1 next week thanks to X Factor promo.

Ah, it is true they were #1 on the digital chart, but Meghan still sold more digital copies since she had a high selling video and EP ;)
