Yay for 5SOS. :cheer: I noticed it jump from about 0.5 on Kworb to #1 on iTunes one day during the week ? I see it's also had a similar jump to #1 officially in New Zealand too, so it'll hold them (Aussie & NZ), Ireland and the UK simultaneously. :D Nice to see it isn't peaking first week in some parts of the world!

:( @ Clean Bandit although I think that song will end up being one of 2014's best sellers Down Under. Hopefully a shot at #1 next week if Gabrielle doesn't steal the thunder. Not a bad drop for K's album. X fell the same way as well I recall.

They are currently #1 on Itunes with no real threat (Gabrielle is #5) so I reckon they'll get there this week

"#SELFIE" is very close behind, and "Happy" with a second version is actually #1 again combined. If they can hold both of them off until Monday, they might be able to get to #1, but it's not the most likely case I think.

Some random facts from this week's chart:

-Thanks to EP and individual track downloads, 5SOS got to #1, but SLSP was only #9 on the digital track chart

-Although it's worth mentioning that in doing so, 5SOS have the first Australian #1 of the year, and first since Gotye in 2011 to not be affiliated with reality TV

-"Chandelier" is now Sia's highest charting track without the help of David Guetta, Flo Rida or Hilltop Hoods

-Illy has ruined his pattern of chart peaks going #58->#48->#38->#39, and incidentally, the lower peaking ones have been the bigger sellers

-Pharrell picked up two 6xPlatinum certs this week, through "Happy" & "Get Lucky"

-Leaving the top 40 this week, "If I Lose Myself" will likely be OneRepublic's first top 50 hit to not last 20 weeks in there

-There's no Lorde in the top 50 for the first time since June last year

-Enormously popular children's group of the past 20+ years, The Wiggles, have just achieved their highest charting album at #32 :D

Wow! Didn't realise how big she was until you put into numbers/facts like that!

How come people keep saying 'The Power of Love' will challenge for #1 when Gabrielle hasn't really proven to be a factor in the battle for #1 yet? #5 is quite a bit off. Nice to see it doing so much for the album though!

Yikes at #SELFIE though.

I think mainly because she's had a tendency to randomly shoot up the iTunes chart thanks to promo, but she's so unsteady (possibly due to lack of radio airplay) that she hasn't yet been able to solidify it, though for what it's worth, lack of a clear leader means that the top 10 are closer than I've ever seen them in years of chart watching!

I also think #SELFIE peaked this week, it got ridiculously close to #1 on iTunes last week

Ick Jai, holy wow Steel Panther almost had a #1 album, and yay Mr. Little Jeans sneaking in

Is she just resident in Oz and randomly promoting every couple of days right now? And yeah I see #SELFIE is down to #7 - probably for the best! We really don't need that going #1 anywhere :drama:

Shame Jess has fallen a bit :( I shan't write her off yet but even just a second top 20 is great since she's on the third single from Beauitful now and two of those missed top 20 (although To The End Of The Earth only just missed out and did go gold anyway)!

Thus ends my weekly Jessica Mauboy post

Is she just resident in Oz and randomly promoting every couple of days right now? And yeah I see #SELFIE is down to #7 - probably for the best! We really don't need that going #1 anywhere :drama:

I think she just stopped off here briefly to promote her upcoming tour, but just appeared on different shows that took varying times to go to air  That and of course there was the TV promo that was shooting TPOL up a lot to begin with.

Upcoming weeks of charts are very hard to predict. Clean Bandit are back at #1 on iTunes, but Pharrell's still leading with different versions, while Calvin Harris/Peking Duk/Sia keep creeping up, but short of an unexpected burst, it's hard to see any of them getting there yet.

Actually it's worth noting that with Happy at #1 this week, Pharrell just overtook Rihanna for most weeks at #1 for the decade. He's on 21 weeks now with the three obvious hits of the last 12 months, though LMFAO still have 19 weeks all as lead artist.

Sheppard's Geronimo is quite comfortably #1 on iTunes at the moment so possible #1 at the weekend? Surprising but nice to see an act I championed early on going on to great commercial success (I sent Let Her Down Easy to Unknown Pleasures this time last year). Hopefully they'll get a UK push, an Aus #1 single would make that easier. Sia is #2 and Peking Duk are #3, first time I can ever recall an all Australian top 3 on their own iTunes chart :o

Well, after the first season finale of The Voice, the whole top 10 (briefly) was Australian, and looked something like this http://www.itunescharts.net/aus/charts/songs/2012/06/18 (it doesn't quite have it on that update though)

Otherwise the best I can think of was when the top 2 spots were held for a while after the 2010 X Factor finale. It's actually miraculous that none of these top three artists are from reality shows or there because they performed on them!

Poor Happy, was just one week away from having the equal longest run at #1 in the last 37 years, and easily could have if not for all the things knocking it off for a week.

But yay Glass Animals, didn't think they'd make the top 40 :D

Couldn't 'Happy' return next week?
Short of any bizarre/morbid/unexpected events, I think its time at the top is over, will struggle to be higher than #3 next week, but hopefully #4 behind the Aussie trifecta

Who does own the record then? 12 weeks at #1 is still brilliant, and I thought it's UK chart run was tough to beat

Coolio got 13 weeks with "Gangsta's Paradise" which is the record for the ARIA era (goes back to either 1983 or 1988, depending on who you ask), but if you go back further, ABBA got 14 weeks with "Fernando". "Hey Jude" / "Revolution" (13), "Buttons and Bows" (12) & "Lose Yourself" (12) are the only others to make 12 weeks all the way back to 1955. Pharrell's is the only broken run at the top among those!
