March 13, 201411 yr Author Umi's Chart highlights:This is Rick Ross' 5th #1 album - he joins just a handful of artists that have notched five No. 1 albums. DMX and 2Pac also have five No. 1s, while Nas and Kanye West each have six. Eminem has seven, and Jay Z leads with 13.The "Frozen" soundtrack will become the first album to sell more than 1 million copies in 2014 next week.Ashanti's "Braveheart" in miraculously making the top 10 has maintained her flawless top 10 albums record.Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending March 9) totaled 5 million units, down 1% compared with the sum last week (5.1 million) and down 9% compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (5.5 million).Year-to-date album sales stand at 47.8 million, down 15% compared with the same total at this point last year (55.9 million).Source: Billboard
March 13, 201411 yr Pleased with how this week turned out :D 112k for Pharrell is a tad disappointing but not that bad at all and a huge improvement on the ~85k that was initially predicted. Ashanti making the top 10 is amazing too, I know she's still totally irrelevant and all but it's great how loyal fanbases are in the US. Yikes at ARTPOP though, could be gone within a month :o
March 13, 201411 yr Never noticed Little Mix plummeted #56-#99 last week. At least they've recovered somewhat thanks to their promo to get another week in the top 100. If it wasn't for my chart-following ways I would be utterly unaware as to the existence of 'Frozen'. Haven't noticed trailers/billboards/anything. It's obviously had a massive cultural impact though if it's sold 1.3 million copies of its soundtrack in the U.S and has made a global chart hit out of 'Let It Go'. Extremely impressive. (And I'm aware it just won an Oscar btw :P). Amazing that 'Unorthodox Jukebox' is still selling so well. It should outsell its predecessor in a couple of months, which was at 2.21 million last month.
March 14, 201411 yr Author BILLBOARD 200 ** 187 BABYMETAL - BABYMETAL (NEW) J-Pop, or should I say J-Metal  Shame there's no accompanying Billboard article so we could see some stats, like they did for 2NE1 and Girls' Generation. Really not sure what to make of this ... WIKqgE4BwAY
March 14, 201411 yr Was Elbow's album released in the US a week ahead of the UK? Yay for Kodaline. And BABYMETAL. The demand is real *_* cK3NMZAUKGw
March 15, 201411 yr Author Was Elbow's album released in the US a week ahead of the UK? I was surprised by that as well.
