Absolute chart domination from the Irish there, I'm sure everyone will agree.

I've actually never heard of Gilbert O'Sullivan .

Says a lot that the Irish Rovers have two top 40 hits on the Hot 100 and are top 10 :drama: Poor Samantha Mumba snubbed.

I've never heard of that Gilbert person either but I know the title 'Alone Again (Naturally)' because it was parodied in the Simpsons :kink:

I reckon Enya would have been much higher if they'd gone by album sales.

And how is 'Chasing Cars' not Snow Patrol's highest charting hit?

The fact that they went only on Hot 100 charting makes it even stranger that Sam didn't feature  She had three songs on that chart and 'Gotta Tell You' being bigger than the biggest hits of everyone lower than Enya should have made up the difference over people with more Hot 100 hits...

^ 'Chasing Cars' is their highest charting hit though?!

Yeah album sales would've shaken up the list considerably, with The Corrs possibly making an appearance as well.

Surprised Niall Horan and his glorified backing singers failed to make the cut :(.

Of course, The Corrs.

But they haven't sold that many albums in the US, have they?

According to Wikipedia, no not really :P - they've a platinum and two gold certifications. But that (plus trickle sales and whatever else their other albums have sold) would possibly be enough to get onto a top 10 list? I don't really know. They'd definitely be ahead of The Script and Snow Patrol anyway.

I thought 'Zombie' would have been the highest charting hit for The Cranberries.

Had a look on Wikipedia ...

It didn't even appear on the Hot 100.

I'm guessing it was during that phase when you had to have a physical release to appear on the Hot 100.

Snow Patrol actually have a Gold and Platinum certification in their discography :o No other album certifications though. Kinda surprised to see The Script have no certifications to their name, they've never had a hit as big as 'Chasing Cars' but they actually have more than one significant hit in the US, unlike Snow Patrol.
So happy Enya insisted on full credit as a featured artist on I Don't Wanna Know after the Fugees screwed her over back in the 90s.

It's not as if she didn't get paid for the Fugees sample

Well true but she had to threaten a lawsuit to get anything!

I think you're right that both Zombie and Salvation didn't get CD single releases so they were not eligible for the Hot 100.

And even those aside, Dreams is by far their most enduring single.

Don't forget B*witched had two Hot 100 entries (C'est la Vie went top 10) and as for the Corrs... Can't believe their only Hot 100 entry was Runaway but I guess The Right Time and much later Summer Sunshine only made the Adult Contemporary chart...

Don't forget Breathless! :o

As of July 2013, 'Breakeven' had sold 2.7m in the US.

I reckon it's around 2.84m now.

Amazing, especially since it's their best song by a mile

I'm very old-fashoined music fan, if I know who is Gilbert O'Sullivan (Thought that "Clair" was his most popular hit), but never heard about Script.
