To be fair though, when she was promoting 'Our Version of Events' in the US, she was hyped a fair bit. And the article, despite being a US source, could obviously be taking international success into consideration.

It's not Emeli. Please deal.

Yeah I agree it could easily be taking international success into account. There's just nothing to say it definitely is. But regarding Emeli (like Ed), it would be ridiculous to be hyping the release as something possibly on a Beyoncé scale when you look at her level of success in the U.S.

Surely if we know there's going to be an Artpop part 2 at some point that defies it being 'Beyonce-esque'?
I think ARTPOP Acts I and II has to do with the rise and fall of a popstar, Queen Gaga has mentioned this a few times. Act 1 was the fall and Act 2 is THE RISE!!!! :w00t: We must just pray that Adele doesn't release anytime soon, we don't want her and her soccer mom fanbase to come overshadow us again like with BTW! :nono:

She sold nearly 30 million copies of '21' worldwide. There's only so far a fanbase consisting of soccer moms could get her... :P

It's BAYONCE-esque in the sense that nobody would have expected / knows much about it. Our stupid fanbase kept building Gypsy and GUY hype while Gaga has been fooling us all along  All we need are Beyoncé fans having spaz attacks. "Ma kwen Bay did it furst!" :tirren:

"[The artist] really likes what Beyoncé did, the independence of it."

CREATIVE REBELLION CREATIVE REBELLION CREATIVE REBELLION F*CK YOU POP MUSIC THIS IS ARTPOP ACT II :cheer:

Actually David Bowie did it first.
It's Gaga and you all will deal and spend your coins :D

I think you'll find Girl Thing also just dropped an album on Itunes without note or warning #onlythegreatestartists

Although it was quite different in the respect that Bowie's album was a pre-order, Bey's wasn't.

Whoever it is will be alienating a lot of fans, because not everyone has itunes.

It didn't stop Bey from outselling alot of people. It'll be released as a physical eventually, just gotta wait a little longer

So going back to the original article it says this

[The artist] feels there are compensation problems [on streaming platforms like Spotify].

So it's someone who maybe isn't that big on streaming

Isn't Taylor Swift's album not available on Spotify and wasn't Rihanna's new one delayed before it was eventually put on there?

That made me think it might be Radiohead as Thom Yorke has made similar comments in the past and they're quite prone to sudden album releases. The rest of the info doesn't match up to them quite as much though :P
Someone from Heat says that the artist rhymes with Corden (?!)

Taylor's on now, plus that was a label decision. Rihanna more likely, or it could be AC/DC who are rumored to be doing a brand new album, a little different but you never know

Clearly Jordan/Katie Price then.
