March 20, 201411 yr Author BILLBOARD: 'Frozen' Soundtrack Aiming For Its Biggest Week Yet Billboard (March 19, 2014): Album could return to No. 1 in light of film's home video release "Disney's "Frozen" runaway hit soundtrack shows no signs of slowing down. Currently in its sixth nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the album is heading for a seventh week atop the list -- and possibly its best sales week yet. Industry forecasters suggest the album could sell upwards of 200,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, March 23. The sales surge is owed to promotions tied to the film's home video release on March 18. The top new entry could be YG's debut studio album "My Krazy Life" with 60,000 or so. After that, look for Foster the People's "Supermodel" and Skrillex's "Recess" with about 50,000 to 55,000 each. The Pretty Reckless, the rock band fronted by singer/actress Taylor Momsen, may see its new album "Going to Hell" start with 25,000 to 30,000." http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...iggest-week-yet
March 21, 201411 yr Author HITS DAILY DOUBLE: WEEKEND CHART PREVIEW HDD (March 20, 2014) "As the Frozen DVD flies out of stores by the millions, the soundtrack is set to rule next week’s chart with a total that will likely exceed twice what it sold last week. In the modern chart era, the Frozen soundtrack is well on its way to setting a record for the most units gained by a soundtrack in the week of the film’s home video release, increasing by more than 100k. Previously, The Lion King and Twilight were leaders with increases of 50-55k."Frozen (Walt Disney) 200-225kYG (CTE/Def Jam/IDJ) 55-60k (NEW)Foster the People (Columbia) 55-60k (NEW) Skrillex (Big Beat/Atlantic) 45-50k (NEW)Pharrell Williams (Columbia) 30-35kThe Pretty Reckless (Razor & Tie) 28-32k (NEW)Rick Ross (Def Jam/IDJ) 25-28kLorde (Lava/Republic) 21-24kEnrique Iglesias (Republic) 19-22k (NEW)Now 49 (NOW) 19-22kTaking Back Sunday (Hopeless) 19-22k (NEW)Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 18-21kEric Church (EMI Nashville) 16-18kBeyonce (Columbia) 16-18kKevin Gates (Atlantic) 15-17k (NEW)Aloe Blacc (XIX/Interscope) 15-17kFlorida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 15-17khttp://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi
March 21, 201411 yr Dear lord :drama: How quickly do DVD boosts tend to wear off for soundtracks? I see no reason the Frozen DVD won't continue to sell for quite a while, so the soundtrack could get a number of weeks above 100k...
March 21, 201411 yr Frozen's "prolonged" chart success is baffling. I'm beginning to think of it as something like what happened with 21 but on a much smaller scale. At this stage I think the film/soundtrack has had its success documented so much that the hype is sustaining itself. And if 'Let It Go' ends up doing a 'Cups'... it could be quite a while before Frozen dies down

March 22, 201411 yr #4 for Skrillex is quite poor imo. I thought he'd have more hype for a full album.
