March 20, 201411 yr Umi's Chart highlights:With its latest weekly sales sum, "Frozen" becomes the first album to sell a million units in 2014 (1.1 million this year). Its total sales stand at 1.4 million.Since SoundScan began powering the Billboard 200 with its point-of-sale data in May 1991, "Frozen" is one of just four soundtracks with six or more weeks at No. 1.Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending March 16) totaled 4.6 million units, down 8% compared with the sum last week (5 million) and down 18% compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (5.6 million).Year-to-date album sales stand at 52.3 million, down 15% compared with the same total at this point last year (61.4 million).
March 20, 201411 yr With Miley selling 11k this week and being 45k short of a million, should be Platinum within 5 weeks? The tour seems to be keeping her afloat for the moment but its US run ends on April 25th, so plenty of time for her to rack up sales before the boost wears off. Any reason HAIM are rising so much lately? :o
March 20, 201411 yr Author BILLBOARD 200 ** 125 Architects UK - Lost Forever // Lost Together (NEW) Wikipedia says they are a: "... British metalcore band from Brighton" Have they ever had any chart success on the UK charts?
March 20, 201411 yr Wikipedia says they are a: "... British metalcore band from Brighton" Have they ever had any chart success on the UK charts? This album was #16 in the UK last week! (They also made #57 with 'The Here And Now' and #42 with 'Daybreaker'). They are just 'Architects' here though, I assume they are marketed as 'Architects UK' in the States to avoid confusion with another band of the same name.
March 21, 201411 yr Some more interesting totals from this week: Bruno Mars - Unorthodox Jukebox: 2,166,000 Imagine Dragons - Night Visions: 2,080,000 Pink - The Truth About Love: 1,954,000 One Direction - Midnight Memories: 1,282,000 Daft Punk - Random Access Memories: 964,000 Bastille - Bad Blood: 309,000 Arctic Monkeys - AM: 286,000 Britney Spears - Britney Jean: 244,000 I hadn't noticed Imagine Dragons passing 2 million, nor Pink sneaking up so close to the same mark, but it is really great to see healthy album sales like that. I remember a couple of years ago feeling like the vast majority of albums would scrape to a million at best, but I feel like we've seen improvements in that regard lately. Very impressive for Daft Punk to be nearing a million based on a single hit too, and Bastille could very well go Gold even if they never have another hit which is also wonderful.
