thought it'd be nice to have a thread dedicated to the more highbrow and pseudo intellectual amongst us~

i.e. just a place to post/discuss/enjoy documentaries, biopics, my serious stuff:

ATM a very good documentary on the plantagenets by no-fuss professor robert bartlett is airing on bbc two ::

there is also a nice programme on the art of the english renaissance by dr james fox (he is a bit of a dish tbqf) ::

certainly makes a nice break from all this wwi content. oversaturation and it isn't even the 100th anniversary of it beginning yet!

BBC4 is such a great late night watch, there's always a fascinating documentary on about something. Lucy Worsley is MAH FAVE.

lucy is VERY hit and miss for me. her history of the home was excellent but some of it really does mush into sort of pointless magazine-style features that don't tell much of a story other than how quirky and dressy up she is. that said she is an excellent writer and her book on the history of the early georgian court was a great read.

janina ramirez / catherine edwards are my overall favs i should say. i like david starkey as an historical orator too.

I've not seen anything from her I haven't loved, even that Great British Murder Mystery or whatever where she did basically just dress up as the entire cast of several plays felt informative enough to me, but then I guess I often start off with such a low stand point that anything would be.

I managed to catch the end of the first episode this week and it was great. Might just wait and iplayer the whole thing though.
