April 28, 201411 yr what about cher 'believe'? isn't that a dance song D: maybe not as much as some others tbh but ye.
April 28, 201411 yr Even that would be an improvement on the two earaches that I think are potential number 1s. Edited April 28, 201411 yr by AnthonyT
April 28, 201411 yr Isn't the #1 obvious? Isn't it widely known what the highest selling dance single of the 90's was?
April 28, 201411 yr Nope, I can narrow it down to a few, but don't know which sold more...especially since 1999 was a big-selling year for dance according to a few heads on this thread...and the others are from 1995.

April 28, 201411 yr I am going with 1998. 1999 tracks all fell short of a million. Ah, I can think of a couple from 1998...
April 28, 201411 yr I still have 12 possible tracks for the last 8. 3 of them are from 1995 but all three could be rejected. Edited April 28, 201411 yr by AnthonyT
April 28, 201411 yr Author 08. DON’T STOP (WIGGLE WIGGLE)- Outhere Brothers (617,000) http://i60.tinypic.com/1hwl83.jpg YEAR: 1995 PEAK POSITION: 1 1995 was undoubtedly a good year for this pair who had some fame earlier in the decade producing “Summertime” for DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince. The formula was quite easy- take a dance song and song some very naughty lyrics over it (cleaned up for a radio version) and watch the single soar. 7tr_H6jBEiE

MUSIC SOUNDS BETTER WITH YOU- Stardust (650,000) http://www.actualites-electroniques.com/Indemodable/Stardust-Music%20sounds%20better%20with%20you.jpg YEAR: 1998 PEAK POSITION: 2 Based extensively around Chaka Khan’s 1981 track “Fate” this sold 171k in its first week to debut at No 2 behind Boyzone. The duo of course comprised of Alex Braxe and Thomas Bangalter (of Daft Punk) and this was the only fruits of the collaboration- still when this is the only thing you produce then it’s been a pretty outstanding partnership. bfN-pXD5MDw
April 28, 201411 yr Music Sounds Better With You would be a million seller within 12 months now with those first week sales.
April 28, 201411 yr Adore 'Music Sounds Better With You', was the soundtrack to the second half of 08 for me. I don't think I can recall a song ever being so hammered in clubs as Stardust was, you'd hear it so many times on a night out.

I don't think I can recall a song ever being so hammered in clubs as Stardust was, you'd hear it so many times on a night out. 08? I didn't really like it at the time and I only tolerate it now. It created a whole new genre of looped house :(
April 28, 201411 yr 08? Yep, I always get into things 10 years too late. Currently loving Left Outside Alone, Milkshake and Hey Ya! Plus I never expected Girls Aloud to suddenly get this good! :o (oh and I agree on the whole issue of MSBWY spawning lots of looped house tracks, I don't recall loving any of those - unless Another Chance counted?)
April 28, 201411 yr Another Chance was certainly Daft Punk influenced. I remember Mixmag slating it and not including it in their Top tracks of 2001 because it was so derivative - they said. I loved it.
