NO LIMIT- 2 Unlimited (531,000) http://i1.sndcdn.com/artworks-000057917468-vqx7fa-original.jpg YEAR: 1993 PEAK POSITION: 1 Widely derided during its time in the charts thanks to its rather minimalistic lyrics, this was the song that toppled Whitney’s mammoth “I Will Always Love You”. Like all their early hits it was made in two versions with the UK release omitting a rap by Slijngaard, it is unquestionably their most recalled hit. VU0f3NYtAwc

KILLER- Adamski (537,000) http://i58.tinypic.com/wr0tuf.jpg YEAR: 1990 PEAK POSITION: 1 The story went that Adamski saw Seal working in a McDonalds and heard him singing which resulted in him asking him to sing vocals uncredited on “Killer”. Six months later and he was at No 1, Seal’s own version went top 10 just a year later. vtENRzTV__8
April 24, 201411 yr Three killer tracks right there. :D "U R The Best Thing" >>> "Things Can Only Get Better" though.
April 24, 201411 yr "U R The Best Thing" >>> "Things Can Only Get Better" though. Absolutely! I got Killer on 12" last year in a charity shop. One of my favourite dance songs of all time. Nice chart run too. 45-39-20-7-4-{1}-1-1-1-2-4-11-16-20-18-26-36-60->18
April 24, 201411 yr Three killer tracks right there. :D "U R The Best Thing" >>> "Things Can Only Get Better" though. Agreed 100% on this. I'm probably the only one here who will admit to liking the ATB version of Killer more than Adamski's version.
April 25, 201411 yr I'm probably the only one here who will admit to liking the ATB version of Killer more than Adamski's version. Good grief! That's like preferring the Toy Dolls version of 'Tocatta and Fugue in D.Minor' over Bach's. 'Killer' was my favourite song for a long, long time. I remember everyone thought Adamski was Seal to begin with as he was more prominent in the video...now, of course, people go on about how it's wrong that it wasn't credited as Adamski featuring Seal...but as Gezza points out, Adamski did give Seal his big break and now the latter is a huge, if very boring, worldwide star. I also loved 'The Space Jungle' which finally allowed Adamski to sing vocals on a top 10 record after over a decade of trying (!)...and probably sealed his fate somewhat. 2 Unlimited's 'No Limit' was pretty catchy, but throwaway pop really. At least it didn't sound as tinny as 'Get Ready For This'. I quite liked 'Things Can Only Get Better' on its first release. I picked up the 7" for 25p in the bargain bin but, by the time it was re-released, I was sick of it...and the third time...urgh. Now it just generates images of Tony Blair laughing at us for voting him in.
April 25, 201411 yr I just listened to ATB's version of Killer. OMG it's like a fake version of a song that Tesco might use as their in-store music because they won't pay for the original.
April 25, 201411 yr Three killer tracks right there. :D "U R The Best Thing" >>> "Things Can Only Get Better" though. Completely agree! I saw D:Ream live the week that 'Things Can Only Get Better' was #1. I've been to a lot of gigs in my time but that's possibly the only time I've ever been to one while they've been at #1, with the exception of Robbie Williams who I saw live at some Radio 1 thing on the Sunday evening when he announced during his set that 'Millenium' was #1! April 25, 201411 yr D:Ream 'Things Can Only Get Better' ~ Great track, but it would be held in better regard if it hadn't become tainted with politics. 2 Unlimited 'No Limit' ~ :music: Adamski 'Killer' ~ nice, like the ATB version too. :)
April 25, 201411 yr Totally love Synchyme, Feel it and Set you Free. Set you Free is one of my fav songs of all time just a classic

ONE AND ONE- Robert Miles Featuring Maria Nayler (545,000) http://i61.tinypic.com/2h4cao0.jpg YEAR: 1996 PEAK POSITION: 3 Recorded first by Edyta Górniak her version wasn’t released until 1997 well after Robert Miles had gone global with it as his third single. Nine weeks in the top 6 for a track that never got higher than No 3 is some achievement especially given that it was in the late 90s. hcqNRaQRUog

Good job she enjoyed it whilst she was there as she never made it again, follow up “Let A Boy Cry” came agonisingly close at No 11. N8k9t89LK9A
April 25, 201411 yr 'One And One' is beautiful  Amazing effort by Robert Miles, although my favourite of his is yet to come in the countdown!
April 25, 201411 yr Wow, never expected "One & one" that high, altough i did not remeber it had such great chart run despite only getting to No. 3 Oh, and I  "Killer" by ATB - especially the intro in the "Killer remix" :w00t: And "Freed from desire" is some sort of classic now. Last year a song containing a sample from it became even more succesful in Germany than the original - Edited April 25, 201411 yr by steps
April 25, 201411 yr One & One is a beautiful and very warm dance song, my favourite Robert Miles single by far
April 26, 201411 yr Oh, I'd remembered One & One further down this chart but forgot about it. The bounty of being in the Top 5 at Christmas pushed its sales up. Without the vocals it wouldn't have been even more cheesy. He had the biggest selling number 2 and number 3 of 1996.
April 26, 201411 yr AMAZING pair of songs. 'Freed for Desire' is one of my fav songs of all time (and I don't like how grandiloquently it sounds but yeah...), and One & One is has a huge quality tag written upon it.
April 26, 201411 yr I loved the misheard lyrics gold mine that Freed From Desire was. My love has gone no money he's got is trampoline. or alternatively. My love has gone no money he's got is bumble bee.

It also became the first No 1 single for the Positiva label. y_lur8gImRM
