And that's without any budget for streaming and a bad video. That song in the hands of the right people (and not amateurs) would already be close to diamond.

To be fair, after the campaign got off to such a shaky start I can see why they weren't willing to make a huge investment and I'd say it rescued the era from being a total disaster in the end.
Since when does lack of investment save anything? And if the beginning of the era was troubled, it was the fault of Gaga and her incompetent team that thought we were still in 2010 for not having invested heavily on streaming like every big artist does.

Also, the biggest pop albums in history have one thing in common: their aesthetic stays true to the initial purpose from the beginning to the end of the era. Gaga kicked off the Joanne era with a song that is totally off the record visually and soundly. The album was successful but didn't get the warm reception it should have had, and it wasn't the audience's fault but Gaga and her team's fault. If she had started the era with A-YO or Diamond Heart, keeping the era's aesthetic in the upcoming singles and investing a bigger budget in videos and playlists, the fate of this album would have been different.

THIS!!

Album is still all kinds of trash though.

sensational album and incredibly underrated! I was so gutted when she cancelled the London date and all that followed musicially... besides Love For Sale.

When you think about it, the Joanne era really was the most drastic shift of sound especially after ARTPOP.

LOVE Rina's message there and her continued adoration of Gaga

You not a fan of the ASIB era? :o

6 years since the release! Time flies!!

I remember loving some of the songs so much but some of them (Just Another Day looking at you) were surprisingly mediocre from the start. Still, respected her choices back then and still do.

It's her weakest album for me but it still makes for a decent listen from start to end (with a few skips (also looking at Just Another Day)). Diamond Heart remains the highlight!
I wished we had more of this moments for Chromatica era. Simple, special performances that were intimate and showed off the beauty of the songs. Also Angel Down continues to cement itself as one of her most important songs doesn't it?
