Well let's hope One Direction don't take the crown again - the only good thing about them achieving it was pretty dire sales, suggesting if there had been stronger competition they would never have made it. I'd predict Take That will sell well and Adele if she releases a followup this year. It might be Coldplays first album which doesn't reach 1 million.

Take That will easily outsell One Direction so it wont be One Direction this year. I really cant see Adele releasing a new album until at least this time next year but it will sell big but not in 21 numbers. Coldplay always sell well but i do think with the downturn in album sales they will struggle achieving another million seller. Paolo Nutini will sell for the rest of the year and if he builds up decent sales for the remainder of the year he could be hard to catch. If i was putting a bet on id be betting on Take That.
I think Take That sales will disappoint. I'm guessing everyone's sales will disappoint in general.

I agree that Adele won't reach the dizzy sales heights of 21 but she'll still be very popular.
I was gonna say some greatest hits albums might do well but I can't think of any that would cross over to mass appeal.

Coldplay's will be big but can't see it being released this year if they've got a new album out soon. They've got enough hits for one though.

Yep it will be big. As will Rihanna's.

Muse are due one and it would be solid gold but I dont think they'd cross over to mainstream buyers.

Lets face it - she could sell just 25% of '21' and still be by far the best-seller of the year... :P

Not sure which way this is gonna go, it could absolutely smash or just have a week #1 and 3/4 weeks top 10

:basil:

and oops at a fair few of us predicting Ed Sheeran underneath Coldplay and Paolo Nutini....

and I have heard not even one note of Ed Sheeran music this year.

Indeed :drama:. Back in April I was convinced that 'Iron Sky' would be the smash it deserved to be. Probably the most disappointing underperformance of the year for me (thanks, streaming).

Interesting to see people's predictions at the start of the year.

I think Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith as the top two are set in stone, and I think Take That's sales will be extremely disappointing given how their pre-order has performed.

1 Adele

2 Ed Sheeran

3 Take That

4 Coldplay

5 Paolo Nutini

(6 One Direction

7 Sam Smith

8 Rihanna)

idk if 1D and Rihanna are releasing albums though

looks like I under predicted Sam Smith, but at least I predicted Ed Sheeran to be the #1 :D (when you take out Adele anyway, I doubt she'll release her album this year now)

Pink Floyd's The Endless River is the most pre-ordered album in Amazon UK's history, one assumes they'll be in the top 5 for the year.

I doubt that very much as it'll be very front-loaded with long-standing fans buying it the first week. Can't see it being in the Top 5 at Christmas or in the Top 5 of the year. I think AC/DC may actually sell more this year!

Take That will walk it
