Mariah Carey releases her much delayed 14th studio album 'Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse' on May 27th in the US, but how much will it sell in its first week? After rumours of a Beyonce style iTunes release, the album will be receiving a traditional Tuesday release in both standard and deluxe editions, digitally and on CD.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Tracklisting

    1. Cry.

    2. Faded

    3. Dedicated (feat. Nas)

    4. #Beautiful (feat. Miguel)

    5. Thirsty

    6. Make It Look Good

    7. You’re Mine (Eternal)

    8. You Don’t Know What To Do (feat. Wale)

    9. Supernatural (With Special Guest Stars “Dembabies” a.k.a. Ms. Monroe & Mr. Moroccan Scott Cannon a.k.a. Roc ‘N Roe)

    10. Meteorite

    11. Camouflage

    12. Money ($ * / …) (feat. Fabolous)

    13. One More Try

    14. Heavenly (No Ways Tired/Can’t Give Up Now)

    15. It’s a Wrap (feat. Mary J. Blige) [Deluxe edition]

    16. Betcha Gon’ Know (feat. R. Kelly) [Deluxe edition]

    17. The Art of Letting Go [Deluxe edition]

    18. Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse

  • The album is preceeded by 3 singles "#Beautiful" (featuring Miguel), which got to #15 on the Hot 100, "The Art of Letting Go", which made no impact on the Hot 100 but got to #46 on the R&B charts, and "You're Mine (Eternal)", which got to #88 on the Hot 100. "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" (featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill), released in 2012, was dropped from the album for failing to make an impact on the charts (even though it got to #46 on the R&B charts, the same as TAOLG).
  • Her last album 'Merry Christmas II You' was released three and a half years ago (Nov 2010), debuting at #4 on sales of 56,000.
  • Her previous album 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel' (released Sept 2009), debuted at #3 with 168,000 sold in its first week. It spawned a Top 10 hit prior to release in the form of 'Obsessed', which got to #7 on the Hot 100.

So, how much will 'Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse' sell in its first week in the US?

It's probably part of the reason anyone knows it exists  I wouldn't be surprised if she chose the title just so there was *something* about the album that would get attention.

Anyhoo, this is very tough to predict :o Memoirs opened somewhat poorly and that had 'Obsessed' whereas '#Beautiful' is long gone for this. I'm expecting sub-100k, so 80k is my prediction.

110k.

Ps. Britster, #Beautiful did not penetrate the top 10 of the Hot 100. From memory it peaked at #15.

You're right, it was 'Obsessed' that got to #7.

400k

Any particular reason for that number?

I really have no idea what to predict for this. 'Beautiful' was so long ago and she just doesn't seem to connect to the public like she used to.

  • 2 weeks later...
I'm tempted to edge down to 50k or so.
