But they may choose to opt out this time?

Good news, Slovenia's just confirmed :D

I don't think there was really much doubt, especially after the fact that last year they qualified for the final for only the third time since the introduction of the semi final stage

If Wikipedia is to be believed then we are up to 36 confirmations now, including 4 returnees. That leaves 5 of this year's participants yet to confirm which are Albania, Moldova, Poland, San Marino and Ukraine. And we are still waiting to hear from Croatia who is really the only possible returnee left and there shouldn't be any debutants.

I'd expect entries from Moldova and Ukraine I should think, San Marino are waiting until October but I think they will enter after Valentina qualified but of course their broadcaster seems to be completely reliant on getting someone else to pay for the entry. Albania have called for entries for Festivali i Këngës but didn't associate it with Eurovision apparently, but I hope they don't pull out after their recent success with Rona. Poland will hopefully be encouraged after their good position last year - hopefully the way the 50/50 voting system disadvantaged them doesn't put them off. In regards to Croatia, I'm not sure I see that return happening - it was always the least likely of the former Yugoslavian countries as they seem to have less interest in the contest as well as poorer results recently compared to the likes of Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. I hope they do return though as we could end up with 42 entries! :o

http://www.tuner.be/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/60-ans-Eurovision-graham-Norton-Petra-Mede.jpg

Just over 9 years ago in 2005, the EBU commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest with a show called “Congratulations”, which took place in Copenhagen.

Now as the contest reaches its 60th edition in Vienna next year, another special show will be produced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Europe’s favourite TV show, this time by the BBC according to Tuner.be.

It also goes on to mention that Petra Mede, who hosted last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, will host the show alongside Graham Norton, the BBC’s Eurovision commentator for the United Kingdom since 2009. Further details about the upcoming show have yet to be announced.

Well that would be *.* so I hope it's true!

Why the BBC?

It's like having a gay parade in Moscow :P

Just booked a cheap ass hostel and I hope there will be cheap flights available in March or whenever I need to apply for a visa and shit. There's like a PERFECT flight for me there right now but I cannae afford it oops. Plus who knows if I'm even going to be able to make it to Vienna at all. Should've probs not spent so much on my Copenhagen trip ooooooops. Oh god I don't even want to remember that mess of a trip last year lmao

Bosnia & Herzegovina will not be taking part next year after all due to funding.

Czech Republic are returning!

After being absent from the Eurovision Song Contest the last 5 years, Czech Republic is making their return in 2015!

"We are very excited to have Czech Republic return to the Eurovision Song Contest after 5 years of absence, making the Eurovision Family even more complete for the 60th anniversary edition." says Jon Ola Sand, Executive Producer of the contest on behalf of the EBU.

Internal selection planned

"Czech Television is happy to be back again in that wonderful competition. After three entries in the previous years we hope to offer Europe a top quality Czech song." says Marketa Stinglova, Manager of International Content Project Center at Czech Television.

The broadcasters has decided to have an internal selection where an expert jury picks their entry. The jury will be offered five songs that are commissioned directly from well-known composers.

Czech Republic first took part in the world’s biggest music event only in 2007 when they joined in with Kabát’s Malá Dáma. Unfortunately, they failed to qualify for the Grand Final at their first attempt.
