May 21, 201411 yr Author Chart HighlightsThis week's album sales were 4.54 million - down -5% on last week and down -11% compared with same week last year. YTD stands at 93.98 million - down -16% on same point last year.
May 21, 201411 yr Yay! So happy for Black Keys, sales are quite a bit higher than some other similar releases over the last year or so off the top of my head.
May 21, 201411 yr Good for Black Keys, was never a big fan of another posthumous Michael album so good for them.
May 21, 201411 yr it's not fair, MJ should've been number 1 over this lame Black Keys album... Michael Jackson is pretty much worshipped all over the globe yet he gets ignored in his home country.... Edited May 21, 201411 yr by Dark Horse
May 21, 201411 yr it's not fair, MJ should've been number 1 over this lame Black Keys album... Michael Jackson is petty much worshipped all over the globe yet he gets ignored in his home country.... It's totally fair. The Black Keys' album got bought more, regardless of MJ's status.
May 21, 201411 yr Michael Jackson is petty much worshipped all over the globe yet he gets ignored in his home country.... So if The Black Keys happened to release next week instead, or sold 7k less this week, would MJ have been embraced by the American people in your view?
May 21, 201411 yr  So if The Black Keys happened to release next week instead, or sold 7k less this week, would MJ have been embraced by the American people in your view? Don't strain your brain trying to figure out his logic, that guy has a screw loose. He's been spouting bullshit all around this forum since the dawn of time.
May 21, 201411 yr it's not fair, MJ should've been number 1 over this lame Black Keys album... Michael Jackson is petty much worshipped all over the globe yet he gets ignored in his home country.... Even though the Billboard Music Awards just spent a shit ton to have a hologram of him, perform at their award show last week. edit: Just saw Aly's post. Note taken. May 21, 201411 yr You could at least just say you were unhappy with the result rather than going "IT'S NOT FAIR" and making up bullshit. The Black Keys are a) actually alive and b) releasing music they actually intended to release. Pretty sure that deserves to beat "Don't you wish Michael was still alive? Well now you can pretend!!!! [Version 2.0]".
May 21, 201411 yr Thought this paragraph from Paul Grein's Chart Watch blog today was of interest: Norah Jones's 2002 album Come Away With Me this week becomes the 11th album to sell 11 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991. It's the fourth album by a female solo artist to hit this threshold, following Shania Twain's Come On Over (15,566,000), Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (14,927,000) and the Whitney Houston-dominated The Bodyguard soundtrack (12,116,000). Cool to get updated sales on these. '21' is on about 10,938,000 and still somehow selling 3-5k a week so it shouldn't be long, particularly with an imminent Adele follow-up, that 'Come Away With Me' will be overtaken. Also, unrelated but I just saw that Billboard have given Coldplay a prediction of 325k. 'Mylo Xyloto' debuted with 447k in October 2011 so that's pretty good going :D. May 21, 201411 yr are you off your meds??? poor thing.... Well you clearly were when you made that first post in this thread. Poor thing indeed...
May 21, 201411 yr Making fun of people on medication for their mental health isn't really on, guys :drama:
May 23, 201411 yr Author This is interesting from Paul Grein: "Jackson has sold 34,723,000 albums in the U.S. since January 1991. That puts him in 14th place on Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the best-selling artists in its history. In the week before he died in June 2009, Jackson ranked #47 on this running list. He had sales, to that point, of 21,737,000 albums." So he's sold (just under) 13 million albums in the last 5 years.
