I think Cheryl will continue to make music, she's more of a successful singles seller now rather than an album artist.

But I definitely think she'll do a few more albums. With Only Human I think she should release a few more singles and then maybe a re-release mid June (BGT performance of a new single perhaps) just to push the album sales. Also maybe a tour around that time too.

Despite how up herself Cheryl has acted regarding the whole Nadine thing i take no pleasure in her flopping. I actually bought the deluxe bosxet so maybe i am pissed at her but thats it.

Her album is flopping there is no getting over that.

To sell just 29k in two weeks with the exposure she has had with 2 no.1 singles under her belt ain't good at ALL. I am actually abit concerned for her record deal you have to go at least platinum these days to be profitable. I feel she was given a lifeline with A Million Lights only shifting 100k, any other artist and they would have been dropped. She really needs do at least 200k-300k by the end of this campaign. I really thought she'd do really really well considering both her singles literally flew to No.1. Cheryl hasn't looked as happy as she did 2 weeks ago on the XF - she is clearly concerned about her album sales. I really thought XF would get her back up to her Album 1 and 2 sales but i guess i was wrong. I mean lets be honest she only agreed to go on XF because she knows how much it helped her before. I know Call My Name managed to get to No.1 but the album sold very poorly, she didn't even go platinum. I cant see her being one of the big XMas sales sellers at the moment. Oh and considering how badly she is selling Nadine and Sarah have NO chance with their new albums next year sadly.

I mean even with a third single even if it went No.1 i cant see how that could drastically help the sales she already has two number 1 one's on there and people still dont want it.

I'm sure she won't be dropped considering The Saturdays' past few albums have flopped big time compared to Cheryl's and they are with the same label.

I'm sure Polydor/Fascination are still making money from her singles.

Cheryl even said herself she doesn't care about the chart position of the album (before the release) as she's making the music she loves. But obviously she would still love a #1 album or higher sales.

The thing with acts like Cheryl and The Saturdays is that they make FAR more money with stuff like endorsements and deals than they do with the music. So the management aren't going to drop them when for the price of recording an album every 12-18 months can make them so much back with endorsements.

The album sales are disappointing not only for the time of year and her profile but also for (in my opinion) step-up in quality from her last one. It's quite clear now that Cheryl is a 'singles artist' these days but there's nothing wrong with that! I think with streaming and the way we consume music changing so fast 10-15 track albums will soon probably be a thing of the past and we'll be getting annual 5 track EPs, like they do 99% of the time in Scandinavia.

I agree with Adam. She's not the only artist massively suffering with poor album sales in this current climate. Albums are quickly becoming a thing of the past. People have stopped buying albums like they used. I hardly ever but any albums these days. Yes I bought Cheryl's but the album I bought before that was kylie right back at the start of the year. However I have bought many many singles and streamed other artists. Cheryl is still profitable because she's current and as she sells more and more singles, her touring will sell well which we all know is where artists really make their money these days.
I think the reason she agreed to go on X-Factor was for the megabucks that was being offered for her to be on the panel. I know I'd care more about that than selling an album that would make me pennies from selling tons of it due to no creative involvement. The pots of gold for Cheryl lie in endorsement and being on that X-Factor judging panel, I know if I was her that would be my main concern.
Yup very true. X factor was for the money, making an album was for the funsies ;)

That's true, she won't get much money from her albums anyway, unless she sells 20 millions records worldwide like Adele but we know that won't happen

At this point I'm happy that she actually "cares" for the music and releases such a good album (my favourite of hers) knowing that it won't sell lots.

Did she know it wouldn't sell lots? I'm not convinced she'd have thought that or have that degree of self-awareness. Obviously I'm talking "normal lots" not "Adele lots". I'm not sure she or the label would have anticipated or wanted Only Human to be doing how it's done so far.

There must be a reason why albums are continued to be produced by most commercial artists - the expectation that they'll be profitable. If there was no money in them at all then it surely wouldn't still be a thing at this point in time, but they are, globally. I doubt Cheryl and the label have put this album out purely for the fun of it.

well i've heard it all now

where once there was a buzz single, we now have a BUZZ ALBUM

It isn't a buzz album, I don't think they expected a 21k opening but I also don't think they were expecting hugh numbers either... As we didn't expect it.

This album though it's an excuse for her, because from where she makes money is from different endorsements, she didn't make £22 million thanks to the music.

It's doing terrible but then again A Million Lights didn't do wonders either, so I don't think her label expected her to sell "normal lots".

The thing is she isn't comitted to promotion as much as she could. If she wanted to sell lots of albums, she would be promoting on TV twice a week or more, and she would have already filmed the video for the 3rd single. If she isn't releasing a new single in December, I am going to be furious. No more "taking time off with family for Christmas" bullshit please. She can have her week off if she wants but she doesn't need to put the whole campaign on hold so soon.

I am really annoyed because it is such a great pop record for me, and I wish she would do her best to make it a big seller.

Cheryl has been nominated for Best TV Judge at this year's National Television Awards. You can vote here!
I have already voted for her *.* Glad Mel B's not up for it too cause I'd struggle so much to choose between them
