Lana Del Rey releases her 2nd (major label) album "Ultraviolence" in the US on June 17th, but how much will it sell in its first week?

Here's what you need to know:

  • Tracklisting

    1. Cruel World

    2. Ultraviolence

    3. Shades Of Cool

    4. Brooklyn Baby

    5. West Coast

    6. Sad Girl

    7. Pretty When You Cry

    8. Money Power Glory

    9. f***ed My Way Up To The Top

    10. Old Money

    11. The Other Woman

    12. Black Beauty (deluxe)

    13. Guns And Roses (deluxe)

    14. Florida Kilos (deluxe)

    15. Is This Happiness (iTunes deluxe)

  • "Born to Die" debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 in February 2012 with sales of 76,634.
  • "The Paradise EP" landed at #12 in its first week on the Billboard 200 (November 2012) on sales of 67,443.

  • The Cedric Gervais remix of "Summertime Sadness" remains Lana's biggest hit, reaching #6 on the Hot 100 in September 2013. It has sold approx 2.3m copies.
  • "West Coast", the first single from "Ultraviolence" debuted at #17 on the Hot 100, spending just one week on the chart. It sold 118,000 in its first week to land at #6 on the Digital Songs chart. It got to #1 on iTunes.
  • The second single, "Shades Of Cool" debuted at #79 on the Hot 100 and #28 on the Digital Songs chart with more than 50k sold. It got as high as #14 on iTunes.
  • The title track "Ultraviolence" shot up to #1 on iTunes upon release.
  • Another track from the album, "Brooklyn Baby" peaked at #4 on iTunes on release.

So, how much will "Ultraviolence" sell in its first week in the US?

This is a hard one to call. 'Born To Die' is currently in the top 40 and selling about 6k a week which would indicate that there's an awful lot of interest in her. However, the 'Ultraviolence' campaign has been fairly lifeless so far and there doesn't seem to be much hype around her given the lukewarm response to 'West Coast' and the other released tracks.

I'm going with 170k because I find it hard to believe she'd do less considering how well 'Born To Die' has been doing lately (although it's probably fair to say that 'Summertime Sadness' fans are still having an impact which might be distorting things somewhat ).

That'd be a huge success for Jennifer if you ask me

I'm really iffy on it. Perhaps 115k.

135k

i'd say 80 k only but shall debut at 1 regardless due to lack of competition and very low sales...
and Sam Smith.

In the US.

I'll go definitely over 100,000.
