Posted September 5, 200619 yr http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3e/Depalmadahliaposter.jpg The Black Dahlia is an upcoming 2006 film directed by Brian De Palma. It is based on the novel of the same name by James Ellroy. The Black Dahlia will have its world premiere as the opening film at the 63rd Venice Film Festival, which opens on August 30th. [flash=450,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTjGy7rlCyM.swf The film follows two detectives in 1940s Los Angeles as they investigate the murder of Elizabeth Short (Mia Kirshner), known as the Black Dahlia. In a subplot to the movie, the two detectives, Bucky Bliechert (Josh Hartnett), and Lee Blanchard (Aaron Eckhart) are caught in a love triangle with Kay Lake (Scarlett Johansson). Lee and Bliechert become obsessed with the murder and it gradually consumes their lives, as they try to uncover an intricate plot that reaches far beyond the average murder, and into the depths of an underworld run by pornography, femme fatales, police corruption, crazed loonies, detectives, and criminals. A wildly graphic storyline set against the backdrop of the Black Dahlia murder. this looks so good dont you think, even though Total Film only gave it 3 out of 5.
September 14, 200619 yr I've read several reviews of this, they all say that the first hour is really good, but it goes off the rails a bit in the second half..... Apparently, the script is a bit muddled and De Palma cant really hold it all together.... It'll still be worth a look though I reckon.....
