van helsing is quite good, fangtastic cgi and stuff, but it's also got frankenstein in and the wolf man, so does that count?

A film called "The Addiction" was a vampire film I felt was particularly terrifying, Vampirism depicted as being akin to drug addiction and insanity - one of Abel Ferrara's best films....

"Nadja" is also a pretty fantastic vampire film...

"Nosferatu" is an utter classic, the first vampire film ever made, the depiction of Count Orlok is probably one of the most terrifying creations in Horror film history.

Japanese anime film "Vampire Hunter D" is also a very interesting spin on the whole Vampire idea

I thought that was utter rubbish myself to be honest.... -_-

i wouldnt say utter rubbish, just another so-so blockbuster, one of those films that's alright to watch if nothing else is on TV on a sunday afternoon perhaps or to put on whilst reading Empire or Total Film. Actually think i might find my copy to show to my bro's 5 year old as i think they are coming round here tonight and i think he will like that.

However Underworld will always have nicer pants

From Dusk Till Dawn easily

reminds me think Desperado's on tonight again with Azumi afterwards

there is one you have forgotten, noseferatu (i think that is how you spell it), it's like the first dracula film ever made or something

Yeah it was the first vampire film, in 1922.

I didnt forget it, it was in my list of faves...  And it's not really a Dracula film as such, the 'Count' is called Orlok, it is a thinly veiled adapation of Drac granted, but there are significant differences. Mind you, that didnt stop Bram Stoker's widow from trying to have every single print of the film destroyed....

I was reading that apparantly he was a very ugly man in real life and didn't need much done to play the part.

From Dusk Till Dawn easily

thats a good film (even though unlike some films that maybe / some other genre this is truely only half a vampire film  )

also Near dark is great (and you should be able to pick it up cheap). thats a great Vampire movie and a great road movie too (so coild work well in a double with Three Burials)

also on the fantasy tip, Night Watch was brilliant esp with the subtitles.
