Opening Fixtures

(To be played on the weekend of 16th August)

Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Burnley v Chelsea

Leicester City v Everton

Liverpool v Southampton

Manchester United v Swansea City

Newcastle United v Manchester City

Queens Park Rangers v Hull City

Stoke City v Aston Villa

West Bromwich Albion v Sunderland

West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur

The Burnley and Chelsea match is definitely the stand-out for me from the opening set of fixtures.

Arsenal look slightly long odds there. I'm expecting a fairly clear top 5 this season unless Spurs and Everton can do some good post-WC business.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see how Leicester do. I'm quite surprised by QPR's low odds relative to the rest of the teams, I know they have the money to invest in new players but I was underwhelmed by them in the Championship last season and I doubt they will suddenly turn into a top 10 team.

Right now I think the money's there for QPR because they have Redknapp and they will just throw money all over the shop. Expect Leicester to do fine. Expect Burnley could be the ones that struggle, although don't know how they will do at all really. Depends on whether their players make the set-up, like Swansea's did. Think Villa will really struggle next year unless Lerner finds a sale. Infact I think they'll get relegated.

Think the Top 4 will probably be the same as last year. Can't see Manchester United breaking back in to it, not when they're handing out massive contracts to all their worst players anyway :D

Yeah I think it's only a matter of time until Aston Villa get relegated considering they have been barely surviving for a few seasons now. I suppose it's a bit like Barnsley in the Championship who finally got relegated last season after several seasons just managing to stay up.

Lerner's not investing any money in to the club, so all the players they're buying are freebies. They've signed Joe Cole who is past it in a fast paced league. Benteke is out until the end of the year, and if Weimann/Delph leaves they're screwed.

I hope Villa don't go down because that's the nearest Prem stadium to us and we always go and watch matches there :/

They had that the last time they were up and look where that got them. I don't think they're the type of team to learn from their mistakes and will probably waste a boat load of cash on players who couldn't give two fucks about the team and are just there for a healthy pay cheque. Can see them being relegated so may have to check out the odds on that.

Actually, having looked at the odds, the 500/1 for QPR to win the league is surely a mistake on Sky Bet's behalf (especially when Sky Bet has them 2nd favourite for relegation)? William Hill is at 1500/1 then every other bookie is over 2000/1.

Oh I expect they will crash and burn too. Going to go for all the big names on big money pay deals (Rio Ferdinand etc.) Be interested to see how Hull do, all the teams that have got in to Europe that are not considered regulars recently have struggled massively.

Fully expect us to either get relegated, or continuously struggle this season (as opposed to last season were we never really looked like going down).

OMG I've just read we're going to put in a £14 million bid for Danny Welbeck with the money from the Shane Long transfer.

Can I change my predictions? :(

Martin Kelly could be a decent signing if he stays fit, though.

Kelly is an excellent signing, just his injuries have really hampered his career. Feel sorry for him, because he was a player Pulis would have loved.

Bit of a shambles though leaving 48 hours before the season starts. Easy Arsenal win now.
