But a point against Chelsea still wouldn't have been enough (assuming you also drew to Palace).

Of course the whole mentality would have been different & put more pressure on City but that's all ifs & buts. I really thought City had blown it with their home draw to Sunderland mind so it really was anyone's to lose.

There is absolutely no way we would have played with the naivety we did against Palace. I flat out refuse to believe that. Don't get beat against Chelsea - we win the title.

Liverpool last season were outscored by City and conceded more than... well, a lot of teams. Easy to say that defensive football lost Chelsea the title but it wasn't at all - they were dominating games but lacked a killer edge and were undone by the odd goal. City pasted teams in the autumn and got the results when it mattered, which is always Mourinho's template when he has the personnel. It's why he always has a good second season.

City have an easier run-in than Liverpool. Pellegrini is probably a dead man walking now, the team just needs the end of the season to come around so those who stay can regroup.

But their killer edge now lost all his form (as did everyone really bar Hazard). Agree they've a few more match winners, but Torres/Ba/Eto'o was a better strike force than Mourinho would have you believe.

City have an easier-run in agreed, but that doesn't stop me dreaming :D I'm sure most City fans thought they would bear Palace and Burnley.

I'm a Liverpool fan and I think we were missing a balance between attack and defence and also a lack of plan B.

Also the Mourinho point his second seasons are good BUT after 3-5 yrs he usually leaves or blows up. Which is why next season will be fascinating with united & arsenal likely to challenge. City will be there too with their money!

Re the top 4 battle: we still can't discount Southampton from this either. Every time they seem to hit a bump they spring right back & they have a very favourable looking set of fixtures in the run in. Could even be a massive showdown at the Etihad on the final day (their last game).
Indeed people quick to talk about Liverpool but Southampton are ahead of us now. Would love either of us to spoil the party as it's dominated by money old and new except Arsenal - you gotta give it to Wenger - one of the greatest!

Yes undoubtedly we had no Plan B. But that form we had was absolutely unreal, we were like a steamtrain. Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling were unstoppable.

Problem with City is I think their team needs a mass rehaul now. A lot of players look like they want out (Yaya, Nasri, Milner) and their big signings haven't worked out. Really interested to see how they tackle the problem.

RE Southampton, agree probably not to be discounted, but there problem will be their lack of goals. If Liverpool DO get Top 4 over City, it will a return to the 'old' Top 4!

I suspect that Man City will probably sell:

Kolarov

Milner

Dzeko

Jovetic

Nasri

Fernando

Navas

Who do you think Man City will sell in the summer?

Depends who is manager you would have thought.

Think Milner, Toure and Nasri are set to go whatever happens though.

Interesting stat, Liverpool have picked up 13 more points than City since New Year's Day.

Our form has been amazing since New Year. Just with those two defeats against Man Utd & Arsenal apparently we're awful again. Football's a funny old game.

Fairly routine win, could have been a lot more had Sterling had his shooting boots on. Newcastle should have had a penalty, but regardless, they never ever looked like taking something from the game. Liverpool just so casual at the back, really gives me bad feelings cos you can tell none of them are really that comfortable receiving the ball under pressure.

I thnk Fernando will stay. Him, Fernandinho and Silva isn't exactly thrilling but it's the most balanced midfield triangle they could field this season and he's a couple of years younger than a lot of the squad.

I still don't get what happened to Nastasic.

Regarding your question on Nastasic. Schalke activated the transfer clause on his loan deal and he signed a four-year contract with them.

Raheem Sterling not really helping himself with the headlines of him inhaling laughing gas and then on Sunday pictures of him smoking a shisha-pipe. Following that, he goes and scores in the 2-0 win against Newcastle.

I think Nastasic just fell out of favour. Weird really as he looked a player under Mancini. Mangala looks an absolute donkey. He just doesn't have his head switched on!

At the moment Raheem Sterling makes a good story. I assume he'll get a talking to, he might also want a bit more finishing practice!

Not surprised with Moreno, Can, Johnson & Lovern at the back lol

Not directly linked to the PL but Klopp is leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

Expecting their best players to leave the club as well.

Klopp to City?

Chelsea to sign Hummels and İlkay Gündoğan please.

Hmm City/Real seem likely destinations, although I would be unsure what he's actually like with money to spend and not sure whether he would have instant success (be very hard to play he wants with the current City squad for example).

Hummels is overrated, plus I think he's Man Utd bound, probably for way over his market value :D

Yip prob 35m and he's injury prone as fcuk!! Talking of injury prone Pool linked with Walcott :(.

Someone tell Brendan to buy a defensive midfield destroyer please!!
