September 6, 200618 yr Id have to add Natalie Imbruglia & Rachael Stevens too How can Rachel Stevens be under-rated...? She gets loads of publicity.... Frankly, considering how generally poor her music is, I'd say the opposite, that what she does is not worthy of generation of such media interest....
September 6, 200618 yr ashlee simpson (in the uk anyway) nelly furtado (before loose, though loose is great imo) gavin degraw vanessa carlton nerina pallot stacie orrico ed harcourt
September 6, 200618 yr Stacie Orrico as well, i like her. She was brought up and made some christian albums, and still releases music even though it doesnt sell very well, and she doesnt resort to stripping off for more media attention, kind of a 'take me as I am' vibe.
September 6, 200618 yr Im talking saleswise. Yes lots of publicity but never good sales. Im guessing you not a fan but I think her singles were brilliant and better than songs by other female artists. So in that way I think she was underrated esp the second album
September 6, 200618 yr Yeah, I'd say Rachel Stevens' music is under rated too. She's never in the media to do with her music but she's actually had some great songs and her last album which flopped was really good :o
September 6, 200618 yr Rachel Stevens' last album was fantastic, just how a pop album should be! The injustice is, her first album was absolute c**p and that did reasonably well, whereas the second was a flop.
September 6, 200618 yr All you ruddy Evanescence and Rasmus fans who go out like fukkin' sheep and buy 14 million albums of incredibly average Pop/Rock with vague "goffick" pretentions, and ignore these incredible bands who were the main influences of Ev and Ras, UTTER FUKKIN' SHAME ON YOU!!!!! <_< A tad harsh Scott. ;) There's absolutely nothing wrong with liking Evanescence.
September 7, 200618 yr I was watching some old videos the other day (Prom in the Park 2002) and Amy Studt came on. She was so flat it wasn't true. Such a shame.
September 7, 200618 yr Nelly Furtado- so underated before Loose! Shes gone too commerical and sold herself out basically! Folklore my fave album ever!
September 7, 200618 yr Sinead Quinn, Michelle McManus (), err... Alex Parks. Now theres the reality stars done. The Pipettes Maximo Park There are others, I just cant be arsed to think :P
September 7, 200618 yr A tad harsh Scott. ;) There's absolutely nothing wrong with liking Evanescence. Not as such maybe, but to ignore these other bands which are the main influences on Ev is just plain stupid, it's like listening to Oasis and ignoring The Beatles....
September 7, 200618 yr Not as such maybe, but to ignore these other bands which are the main influences on Ev is just plain stupid, it's like listening to Oasis and ignoring The Beatles.... Well yes agreed on that point. But still to like them isn't really a crime. Anywho, I think Cyndi Lauper is a good example of an artist that is underrated, her new album didn't even make the Top100, granted it wasn't as good as her previous material, but still decent enough. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is an ANTHEM no matter which way you look at it. Most people know her for that song, but I think she has done a lot of other good tracks that deserve as much recognition. She was a rival to Madonna in the early days too.

She was a rival to Madonna in the early days too. Well, no not a crime really, I even voted FOR and Evanescence forum (purely because I could maybe start putting in inbedded vids of Euro Goth Rock bands who are similar so people could hear them..). My girlfriend is a fan, BUT she also loves Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Theatre of Tragedy, Nightwish and a Polish band called Moonlight who are also part of this 'female-fronted' Goth Rock cycle. My objections are really those who dont take the time and trouble to look beyond the frontiers of the US for alternatives.... Evanescence remind me of a sort of 'fun size' version (you know, as in these little versions of choccie bars such as Mars and Snickers which you can eat in one bite..? Like, where's the 'fun' in that...? ) of the likes of Nightwish and LC. Ev have heard these bands, but they aint listened... As for Cyndi, yep, I'll defend her, she was fun and unfairly compared to Madonna I feel, she was different.
