September 28, 201410 yr It's one of their worst singles and I'm not just saying that because it underperformed because I've never been overly impressed with it since it premièred. It's far too generic and repetitive in it's lyrics that they may have just been asking for their careers to end. Don't get me wrong, no one can deny that it's fun and it was very instant, it was just the completely wrong song to release in 2014 and at a very crucial point in their career.

Yeah, to be honest. It's quite sad how literally every lead single release has had something to hinder it's potential. But hey, dire album sales still give us great songs so whatever. :D
September 29, 201410 yr Absolutely love it and it deserved so much more. :( Within my Top 5 favourite singles releases so far this year. I much prefer it to '808', which is clearly an unpopular opinion here. :kink:
September 29, 201410 yr I like both as much as each other, I just said that because I feel the general public would like 808 with a "hip" rap artist more than WAYWF.

September 29, 201410 yr Not my favourite single, but I loved it when I first heard it, also, it was the perfect song to kick off the tour!!
September 29, 201410 yr I don't see how 808 is any less generic than WAYWF? I think the lyrics to WAYWF are a lot more generic than 808. I mean the lines "Tonight we're gonna party party party, Wanna see everybody move their body body body" says it all really. I think thats why I go through phases of loving it and being a bit meh about it. There's no denying Una when she calls it a banger, but its too repetitive for me and gets boring after a while. The more time that passes the more I think 808 would have been the better single choice, but heindsight and all that...
September 30, 201410 yr '808' and 'What Are You Waiting For' are jams, but 'Walking Through the Desert' is...or well, 'was', what The Saturdays were about back then, Chasing Lights era. I love their dance sound, but I do feel like the lyrics to their dance sound is starting to sound a bit samey.
September 30, 201410 yr Had '808' bombed as hard as 'What Are You Waiting For?' I'm sure that the response to '808' would have been completely different. I still really like 'What Are You Waiting For' but overall I do prefer '808'.
September 30, 201410 yr WAYWF is really catchy and I'm not bored of it, but the lyrics and some parts are indeed a bit generic. I really like WAYWF more than when it premiered, such a tune!
September 30, 201410 yr WAYWF was the only viable option for a fun lead single really - I don't see how First Choice could have paid for a suitable video for 808 or Walking Through The Desert as well. I liked WAYWF upon hearing it but the comments about it being generic are just too relevant/true for me to ignore!
September 30, 201410 yr That really depends on the songs they had available though, presuming they had more.
October 1, 201410 yr WAYWF had potential to be a hit had the girls done a radio tour and more promo. It didnt flop purely on being "a generic song"
October 1, 201410 yr I love WAYWF at first, I honestly remember thinking it could be their second number one when the video premiered   but now I find it very irritating & repetitive & if it comes on on my phone I can't help but skip it. :( 808 on the other hand is my jam!
October 1, 201410 yr I think both songs are on equal grounds. I think both would have flopped in the lower regions of the of the top 40, especially with streaming included. But I do however also think that with radio AirPlay both songs would have made the top ten with little issue. Walking Through The Desert would have flipped harder though. Even though it's a better overall sound for them, the song is pretty forgettable. When I saw them live with causal fans, they enjoyed Wildfire, Not Giving Up, WAYWF and 808 that they didn't know but thought WTTD was boring. One of them said it was the worst song of the show.
