Umi's Chart Highlights

  • "1000 Forms of Fear" marks Sia's highest charting album (her previous best being #26 with "Some People Have Real Problems" and in starting with 52k, her highest first week sales. Her previous best week of sales was 20k for "Some People" also.
  • With 52,000 copies sold, "1000 Forms of Fear" is the lowest selling #1 album since August 2012, when Zac Brown Band's "Uncaged" led the list with 48,000..
  • Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending July 13) totaled 4.05 million units, down 5 percent compared with the sum last week (4.25 million) and down 19 percent compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (4.98 million).
  • Year-to-date album sales stand at 129.19 million, down 15 percent compared to the same total at this point last year (151.83 million).
  • The week's 4.05 million haul is the smallest weekly sum for album sales since SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. Weekly album sales volume has been below 5 million for the past 12 consecutive weeks. The 5 million mark has only been surpassed in five weeks this year. To compare, a year ago at this point, there were 21 weeks where sales were above 5 million.

05 02 Frozen Soundtrack - 46,000 (3,117,000)

This album needs to die already

Sia's album is really rather special, very chuffed she somehow got herself a US #1. Shame on UK.
So happy for Sia! Definitely her worst (more like 'least good' to be fair) album, but she deserves all the success!

Yay! :cheer: Sia at number one!

I do agree that Frozen needed to piss off now.

Lana sold 6,000 of her three year old album last week while only selling 18,000 of her month old follow-up . The former will overtake the latter in no time unless she can somehow get some single success or bothers doing some promotion.
Are the chart stats no longer being posted? They were very informative and saved wading through the horrific Billboard site.

We've been busy ^_^

The album sales thing is interesting, very reminiscent of what's happening in the UK right now. The comparisons to last year are always interesting also, that statistic is even more damning than the comparison of albums to have crossed 500k by this point.
