I have no idea how an act who's not been active (bar tour support) for 20 years got to close the ceremony/TV, but one of my (not at all Guilty) Pleasure's got a well-deserved boost - Music is an anthem, and I loved all John Miles early singles. Still sounding good and fingers-crossed it sells enough to make the archive chart - purely so I can re-chart it and cos I'd like to see John Miles active again in music if he can sing that well still!

It was weird. It looked like the main act was Smokey Robinson, a great singer but not from a Commonwealth country, and then it closed with a song - a fantastic song it should be said - by a Geordie, i.e.not a Scot.

Bill Bailey was, of course, brilliant. It should be illegal for one person to be so multi-talented.

Oh, and didn't John Miles used to be blond? What colour is it now?

Blonde-ish as I recall  Smokey Robinson was a bit confused by song order, he was probably trying to forget Jessie J was about to foghorn the sublime subtle Cruisin' :w00t: A good example of a duet version is Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis. Gwyneth might be an actress, but she can out-sing some pop stars...

I'd also like to bring in a rule for those of us with large-screen TV's (oooh get me!) that any act advancing in years who's had ill-advised facial surgery, and no longer resembles themselves at all, should perform from behind a screen. I went to Smokey a few years back, he was great, but I was far enough away from the stage that I wasn't distracted from the voice.

I much prefer High Fly to Music, I enjoyed Smokey-quite incrediable to think he's 74!

I'll join you on that, High Fly and Slowdown are both better than Music, but I'm fond of all 3. Smokey is a legend.
