"Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" is a song from the 2013 Disney animated feature film Frozen, with music and lyrics composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The song is performed in the film by Kristen Bell, Agatha Lee Monn, and Katie Lopez, each playing the role of Princess Anna at different ages. It occurs near the beginning of the film when Elsa has been locked away in her room because her parents are afraid of her losing control of her powers and hurting Anna. As the girls grow older together, the two are kept apart. After their parents are killed in a storm at sea, Anna once again sadly asks her sister to come out, to no avail.

POSITION IN ROUND 2: 3 IN POT 2

"Part of Your World" is a song written by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman from the 1989 Disney animated feature film, The Little Mermaid. Originally recorded by American actress and singer Jodi Benson in her film role as Ariel, "Part of Your World" is a Broadway-style ballad in which the film's heroine, a mermaid, expresses her desire to become human.

"Part of Your World" was written at the behest of Ashman, who felt that it was necessary for Ariel to have a song in which she shares with the audience her hopes and dreams, similar to a traditional Broadway musical. The song has been mostly positively received by critics, who praised Ashman and Menken's songwriting abilities as well as Benson's vocal performance. Despite being the film's theme song and critically lauded, "Part of Your World" did not receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, while The Little Mermaid's "Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl" did.

POSITION IN ROUND 2: 1 IN POT 1

Kiss the Girl" is a song written by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman for Walt Disney Pictures' 28th animated feature film The Little Mermaid (1989). Originally recorded by American actor Samuel Wright in his film role as Sebastian, "Kiss the Girl" is a calypso ballad; the song's lyrics encourage a young man to kiss his female love interest before it is too late.

"Kiss the Girl" had a mostly positive reception. The song was nominated for both an Academy and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, but lost both to "Under the Sea", another song from The Little Mermaid soundtrack.

"Hakuna Matata" is a song from Disney's 32nd animated feature The Lion King.[1] The song is based on Timon and Pumbaa's catchphrase in the movie, Hakuna matata, which is a Swahili phrase; it means 'no worries'. It is characterized by its simple 4/4 time, upbeat message and catchy lyrics.

"Breaking Free" is a song from the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical. It also appears on the soundtrack of the same name. It is sung by Drew Seeley (uncredited),[1] Zac Efron, and Vanessa Hudgens. It was also released as a single on September 28, 2006. On June 21, 2006 it was certified as a Gold single by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000.[2]

The song is sung during the film's climax when the main characters Troy and Gabriella participate in the callbacks in front of the entire student body. In universe, the duet is written and composed by Kelsi Nielsen for the second act of the unnamed school musical.

The song subsequently appeared on Vanessa Hudgens' compilation album, A Musical Tribute and appears on the Disney compilation album, "Disney Channel Playlist", which was released June 9, 2009.

POSITION IN ROUND 2: 3 IN POT 1

Reflection" is a song written and produced by Matthew Wilder and David Zippel for the soundtrack of the 1998 animated film Mulan. In the film, the song is performed by Filipina singer and actress Lea Salonga as Fa Mulan. An accompanying music video for "Reflection" was included as a bonus to the Disney Gold Classic Collection DVD release of the film in 1998.

A single version of the song was recorded by American recording artist Christina Aguilera and became her debut single. The single's commercial success funded Aguilera's debut album from RCA, in addition to gaining her credibility amongst established writers and producers. Releases of the single were limited, which resulted in the track charting only on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, at number fifteen. An accompanying music video for the song was included on the DVD release of Mulan. Aguilera has performed the track on four televised performances, including at the CBS This Morning show, which saw her gain the attention of songwriter Diane Warren.

"Let It Go" is a song from Disney's 2013 animated feature film Frozen, whose music and lyrics were composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The song was performed in its original show-tune version in the film by American actress and singer Idina Menzel in her vocal role as Queen Elsa. Anderson-Lopez and Lopez also composed a slightly different pop-rock version, which was performed by singer Demi Lovato over the start of the film's closing credits. A music video was separately released for the pop-rock version.

The song presents the ostracized Queen Elsa, who abandons her kingdom when her magical ability to create and control ice or snow is discovered by the public. Up in the mountains, away from confused and suspicious onlookers, Elsa realizes that she no longer needs to hide her abilities, and declares herself free from the restrictions she has had to endure since childhood. She rejoices in finally being able to use her power without fear, without limits, to let it go, and manipulate snow and icicles to create a living snowman and generate a magnificent ice castle for herself.

8 The Lion King- I Just Can’t Wait To Be King= 7.785

POSITION IN ROUND 2: 5 IN POT 2

"I Just Can't Wait to Be King" is a stylistic musical number from Disney's 1994 animated film, The Lion King.

"I Just Can't Wait to Be King" is a large contrast from the film's non-musical segments, as emphasized by the number's usage of lively colors and sounds. The song is performed near the beginning of the film by a young Simba and Nala as to enunciate Simba's desires to become King. It is a prelude to Simba's lost innocence, being tricked into thinking he killed his father, his leaving Pride Rock, and attempt to forget his past.

The song was composed by Tim Rice (lyrics) and Elton John (music). It was performed by Jason Weaver, Rowan Atkinson, and Laura Williams.[1] In the original Broadway cast recording of The Lion King, it is performed by Scott Irby-Ranniar, Kajuana Shuford, and Geoff Hoyle. In the Spanish language version of The Lion King, "I Just Can't Wait to be King" was performed by Mexican singer and entertainer Kalimba. Elton John himself also recorded his own version of the song for the film's soundtrack

Let It Go unsurprisingly had the most weirdest results as usual with it getting many 11’s and 10's and the most -1’s I believe. The Lion King 2nd song in the countdown enters 8 while Mulan is at 10 with one of the favourites in the last round.

I actually can't at Let It Go beating Reflection

I Just Can't Wait To Be King

My least favourite of the Lion King lot but still rather flawless

CYFTLT or Cirlce Of Life to win it please

POSITION IN ROUND 2: AUTO-QUALIFIER

Beauty and the Beast" is a song originally from the 1991 Disney animated musical film of the same name. A pop ballad, "Beauty and the Beast" describes the relationship between the film's two main characters, Belle and the Beast. It was written by lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken to be the film's theme song.

Within the film proper, the song is performed by British American actress and singer Angela Lansbury in her film role as Mrs. Potts. The song was also released as a single by Canadian singer Celine Dion and American singer Peabo Bryson. Lansbury's version was produced by Ashman and Menken, while the single by Dion and Bryson was produced by Walter Afanasieff. Both versions were included on the film's soundtrack, which was released on October 29, 1991, with Dion and Bryson's version as the final track on the album. Additionally, Dion included the song on her eponymous second English-language studio album.

The song also appears in the stage musical based on the film, which premiered in 1993. On the original cast recording of the musical, the song is performed by Beth Fowler in the role of Mrs. Potts.

"Beauty and the Beast" garnered a mostly positive reception from critics. The song was the recipient of several awards and accolades, including both the Golden Globe and Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. As a single, "Beauty and the Beast" performed well commercially, peaking at number nine on the United States' Billboard Hot 100. The song also performed considerably well outside of North America, peaking within the top 40 of Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The international success of the song has often been accredited with establishing Dion's musical career.

The release of "Beauty and the Beast" was accompanied by a music video, which was directed by Dominic Orlando. Both Dion and Bryson have performed the song live several times, including at the 64th Academy Awards in 1992 and the 35th Grammy Awards in 1993.

POSITION IN ROUND 2: JOINT 1 IN POT 2

"Breakaway" is a song recorded by American pop-rock singer Kelly Clarkson. The song, written by Matthew Gerrard, Bridget Benenate and Avril Lavigne, was originally intended for Lavigne's debut studio album, Let Go (2002). After being deemed unsuitable for the album, it was passed to Clarkson to be recorded as a soundtrack for the film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Clarkson, who was finishing her second studio album at that time, recorded "Breakaway" to tide her fans over until the first single from her new album was released. However, the song's success prompted its inclusion on Clarkson's second album where she decided to name the album after the song. "Breakaway" was first released by Walt Disney Records as the first single from The Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack on July 19, 2004.

"Breakaway" was positively received by music critics, who complimented the song's universal message and its simple lyrics where people could relate to. It incorporates acoustic guitars and airy drums which are interspersed with Clarkson's controlled voice. The lyrics narrate Clarkson's journey as a girl growing up in a small town who follows her dream for self-improvement. "Breakaway" was a commercial success outside of the United States, where it peaked within the top 20 of multiple European countries, and in the top 10 in Australia, Belgium, Hungary and the Netherlands. In the US, the song peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became her third top ten song in the chart. It also topped the US Adult Contemporary for twenty-one non-consecutive weeks, a record that is now shared between herself and Celine Dion's "A New Day Has Come".

Directed by Dave Meyers, the accompanying music video for "Breakaway" portrays Clarkson as a young girl from a small town who follows her dream and becomes an international star. It also contained scenes interspersed from The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Clarkson acted out most of the lyrics in the music video because she felt that the song was autobiographical. Critics responded positively to the music video for being faithful to the central theme shared by the song, the film, and Clarkson's personal biography. Clarkson performed the song in a series of live appearances such as television shows Saturday Night Live, The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She has performed the song in her concert tours, including the Stronger Tour. "Breakaway" has also been covered by many contestants from reality television singing competitions, notably Katie Stevens, a contestant in the ninth season of American Idol, as well as an English pop duo, Belle Amie who finished eleventh in the seventh season of The X Factor.

POSITION IN ROUND 2: JOINT 1 IN POT 2

Colors of the Wind is a song written by lyricist Stephen Schwartz and composer Alan Menken for Walt Disney Pictures' 33rd animated feature film Pocahontas (1995). The film's theme song, "Colors of the Wind" was originally recorded by American singer and actress Judy Kuhn in her role as the singing voice of Pocahontas. American recording artist Vanessa Williams' cover of the song was released as the lead single from the film's soundtrack on March 23, 1995. A pop ballad, the song's lyrics speak of respecting nature and living in harmony with the Earth's creatures.

"Colors of the Wind" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 68th Academy Awards in 1995, becoming composer Alan Menken's fourth win in the category. It also won the Golden Globe in the same category as well as the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Movie. The song poetically presents the Native American viewpoint that the earth is a living entity where humankind is connected to everything in nature.

And the last two non-auto qualifiers are out. Pocahontas is the highest of the round 2 songs just edging out another major Kelly Clarkson hit to a top 5 finish. The title track from Beauty and the Beast is at 7 being the highest song from that film. I love them all but think they are all a bit too high.

I'm honestly confused as to why I gave Breakaway only a 5

POSITION IN ROUND 2: AUTO-QUALIFIER

A Whole New World" is a song from Disney's 1992 animated feature film Aladdin, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice.[1] The song is a ballad between the primary characters Aladdin and Jasmine about the new world they are going to discover together while riding on Aladdin's magic carpet. The original version was sung by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga during the film. They also performed the song in their characters at the 65th Academy Awards, where it won Academy Award for Best Original Song.[1] In 2014, Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed performed the song as Aladdin and Jasmine in the film's Broadway adaptation.

A single version of the song was previously released that year and was performed by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle. This version is played in the movie's end credits and is referred on the soundtrack as "Aladdin's Theme".[1] This version peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on March 6, 1993,[2] replacing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", which had spent a then record 14 weeks at the top of the chart. The track peaked at #9 in the UK Singles Chart in 1992.[1] The song is the first and only song from a Disney animated film to top the Billboard Hot 100.

POSITION IN ROUND 2: AUTO-QUALIFIER

"Under the Sea" is a song from Disney's 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman and based in the song "The Beautiful Briny" from the 1971 film Bedknobs and Broomsticks.[1] It is influenced by the Calypso style of the Caribbean which originated in Trinidad and Tobago.[citation needed] The song was performed in the film by Samuel E. Wright. The track won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1989.[1]

The song is a plea by the crab Sebastian imploring Ariel to remain sea-bound, and resist her desire to become a human in order to spend her life with Prince Eric, with whom she has fallen in love. Sebastian warns of the struggles of human life while at the same time expounding the benefits of a care-free life underwater. However, his plea falls on deaf ears, for Ariel leaves in the middle of the song.

In 2002, the song was featured in the Square Enix action RPG, Kingdom Hearts as the background music for the Atlantica world. In 2006, the song also appeared in Kingdom Hearts II as part of a minigame where it was rearranged to have parts for Sebastian, Ariel, and Sora. For both appearances, the music was arranged by Yoko Shimomura.

In 2007, the Broadway musical version used this as the featured production number with the role of Sebastian played by Tituss Burgess. For Burgess, a tenor (unlike the baritone Wright), the key of the song was raised from B-flat to D. The placing of the song was also moved to after the scene in which King Triton destroys Ariel's collection of "human stuff."

The song is present throughout all the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts around the world and the Disney Cruise Line.

Thought both would be top 3 but great results for both. Under The Sea is just where it should be and even though I love a whole new world, it should be a bit lower. So the final is The Lion King v The Lion King. Who do you think will win out of Circle Of Life or Can You Feel The Love Tonight? Results will be later tonight as got to go out soon.

Yaaass A Lion King top 2 :snif:

Buzzjack has taste after all, I can't call it between the 2, but I think CYFTL will snatch it as I saw TCOL get a -1

"Circle of Life" is a song from Disney's 1994 animated film The Lion King. Composed by Elton John, with lyrics by Tim Rice, the song was performed by Carmen Twillie (female vocals) and Lebo M (opening Zulu vocals) as the film's opening song. Elton John sang a pop version of the song with the London Community Gospel Choir, which was included in the film's soundtrack and made into a music video. "Circle of Life" was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song in 1994, along with two other songs from The Lion King: "Hakuna Matata" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" which won the award.

The song reached #11 in the UK and #18 in the US, and is featured frequently in attractions based on The Lion King, such as Disney theme parks and parades. Michael Crawford sang it as part of a medley for The Disney Album in 2001.

Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is a song from Disney's 1994 animated film The Lion King composed by Elton John with lyrics by Tim Rice. It was described by Don Hahn (the film's producer), Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff (the film's directors) as having "the most diverse history" in the film. It was a chart hit in the UK, peaking at #14 on the UK Singles Chart, and achieved even more success in the U.S., reaching a peak of #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was a number-one hit in France. The song was performed in the film by Kristle Edwards, Joseph Williams, Sally Dworsky, Nathan Lane, and Ernie Sabella, while the end title version was performed by Elton John. It won the 1994 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. It also earned Elton John the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

And can you feel the love tonight won the rate quite easily by surprise with a fantastic average of 8.95- over 0.25 more than 2nd place. The Lion King stormed this vote finishing in 1, 2, 8 and 12 but I am still surprised CYFTLT won. I thought any of the songs that finished 2 to 4 would win. Anyway thanks everyone so much for voting and special thanks for Regina who started this thread and let me continue it. Now The Great Disney Songs Rate is complete.

Iconic *.*

CYFTLT has had me in tears once. Don't judge me

Fabulous winner ! Thanks for hosting this Ultraviolence!

Ugh at that winner, though I'm far from surprised. The Lion King is a hugely overrated film so it stands to reason the music would be too.

Fabulous ROBBED. Breakaway too, scores as low as 5 for it :(

Let It Go would have been a good winner actually as awful and overrated as the film is it's a stellar song. Good winner though!

I can just about wrap my head around people disliking the movie, but the music is Disney at it's absolute finest and indeed it's quintessential Disney, how people can give terrible marks to it yet top marks to music cut from pretty much the same cloth is quite confusing to me.
