yeah this is only speculation, I haven't seen anything else supporting the idea of another new Avicii album so soon

Not feeling the hype for this as much as I should be, even despite Waiting For Love's brilliance.

 

Just have that feeling this is gonna be really underwhelming but hopefully not!

Just listening to the megamix on Spotify now - it doesn't sound too bad after all! I highly doubt it will emulate 'True', but I'm looking forward to its release now for a proper listen. :music:

Here's my ranking of it so far with review:

1. The Nights - Anyone who reads my chart would know I love this! :music: :wub: guaranteed to lift your mood and very inspiring both lyric wise and the music video :heart: the production is flawless too :wub: so glad this made the album!
2. City Lights - :heart: OMG :wub: what a tune! It took a while for the vocals to fade and the instrumental to kick in but it was definitely worth it! Unfortunately it doesn't sound like a song you'd pick as a single (RIP Dear Boy :cry: )
3. Trouble - The Nights crossing over with Hey Brother? :music: what a great track this is. Hoping it can be a single :dancing:

4. Sunset Jesus - :music: this deserves more than just title of an album track! Feelin' tha vibes and loving the little cheers in the background :D flows so good :wub:
5. Waiting For Love - A great track, despite flopping on the UK chart at #6 when we all thought it would get to #1 looking at the pre orders :lol: it might be the VERY John Legend sounding vocals, or the slow beat compared to something like The Nights, but it's still pretty decent :music:
6. Gonna Love Ya - This is sounding great on the second (and first) listen! :music: very peaceful vocals and the production is so fun :wub:
7. Broken Arrows - This one I am hoping to be the next official single as its great! :music: the vocals are nice and the production goes really well with it! Awsum lyrics too :D
8. Touch Me - Addicted To You vs You Make Me :heehee: middling the table this one I think!
9. Pure Grinding - Sounding very different to his usual stuff, it still turned out well for me, and it's got quite an addictive beat to it :D
10. True Believer - Sounds like your average Avicii album track really, mixes well with the others and I believe this is the right place to put it.
11. For A Better Day - I was quite disappointed with this one tbh. It sounds decent as an album track but as a single? :no: I kind of see where the vocals are trying to go but they sound weak in places and the production sounds like a cheaply made You Make Me. And its unlucky chart success (or lack of) kind of proved he could have ditched this single For A Better Song :kink:
12. Ten More Days - Wasn't sure if I would grow to this in a few listens, it's quite calm and interesting though!
13. Somewhere In Stockholm - Interesting, but not as comparable to the rest of the bunch. It's got a nice ring to it though.
14. Can't Catch Me - Hmm, it's quite nice, could be a grower but slow to start with.
15. Talk To Myself - Not really comparable to the rest of the album tbh!

These will probably change a little when it's rate comes up ;)

 

I certainly has fun reading the iTunes reviews though :lol: I'll echo it again: WHERE IS HEAVEN? :lol:

Some are speculating that it'll appear on the deluxe edition or as a Spotify/iTunes/Amazon etc. only track. On My Own has to be the worst loss though. It's like in my top 5 of his songs (my #1 song this year) and nothing's been done with it :banghead:

 

Overall comment: at first I wasn't sure this would be as amazing as #TRUE because of the single choices, but the (at least at the moment) album tracks are on the whole stunning. I think I just died and went to heaven :wub: so hyped for deluxe and possibly an Avicii by Avicii remix album :dancing:

City Lights is quite catchy and this might have worked for the first album but this is a few years later now and so some progression in sound may be a good idea. Trouble being a blatant Hey Brother rip-off is the most disappointing thing.

 

On the whole this is just lifeless generic garbage with absolute zero hints at progress or actual thought process in making music. Didn't expect this to happen to him so early into his career. But I guess if he wants to continue his mainstream success, he needs to do a Guetta/Tiesto and sell the fuck out quickly. It ain't 2005 anymore where you could still experiment and get away with it.

very glad it lived up to my expectations! Already listened to the whole album 3 times

Sunset Jesus <3 I loved the Dear Boy remix on Avicii by Avicii and this does a great job with that drop.

 

It's actually a strong album overall, I wish For A Better Day wasn't a single, probably one of the worst on here for me. It's always in my head but it's pretty irritating.
