i often wonder why the management/label/peter/aoife belle thought it was a good idea to let the girls release gentleman when they had a track like NGU on their hands :???:

Also the single is doing better than I expected so I guess that's a plus :)

It won't climb much again until tomorrow now.

Because 'Gentleman' had a different and interresting pop structure, was more "live instrumental"ish than their dance efforts (Radio 1 hasn't just started moving from the dance sound, they have been willing to move from it from ages!), was different enough from the last single to show that the album has diversity, Polydor probably knew Girls Aloud were going to split and thus thought releasing a Girls Aloud-esque (for the structure, quirky lyrics and all) would be a good idea...

It was a dumb move anyway, not safe at all. Reastically, it really is what killed them because 'What About Us', although not really getting that much airplay until it hit #1, was A-listed by Radio 1. Gentleman is the one that didn't and everything after that hasn't managed to get airplay.

ANYWAY.

The album is #202
Should be #150 by the time of the release I think.

I think people are just buying the Greatest Hits instead of buying the single.

FKA Twigs are #105

The Gaslight Anthem are #219

I checked the other competition but they were all far behind.

Dare I say it could make the top 150 before the release? :o

So yeah people are slowly waking up and downloading their preorder seems like. 5am is still incredibly early though.

The EP has almost had a similar iTunes position as Finest Selection. Oh dear.

No it's not. Finest selection has always been higher and done better so I think it will be fine.

That's the iTunes position for both leading up to midnight.

Green = album | Yellow = EP

Release week wooo....

Finest Selection #180  yassss

Defo headed for top 3 over all on iTunes atleast. It's held up amazingly on pre orders. Didn't their last two albums dissappear for weeks before release before climbing during the last week?

more worried about the single than the album for once! :(

Let's be honest though, they are releasing the album the same week as the single. I think you need to get behind the idea that this single was meant to flop anyway.

You either pay 0.99 for one song or well an extra 9£ for 38 other tracks. You won't get a better bargain than this. I'm sure most people are going for the album instead of just the song.

Then obviously, no airplay on both TV and radios, etc, etc, etc. We've been over this for a month now.
