February 25, 201510 yr Author Manchester City very lucky there following Messi's missed penalty and missing on the rebound.
February 25, 201510 yr Such a joke Arsenal, complete bet buster. Ridiculous! To think how delighted they were over this draw, and they'll be getting knocked out at the same stage as they normally do
February 25, 201510 yr To think how delighted they were over this draw, and they'll be getting knocked out at the same stage as they normally do  Score a goal and then concede another one  I would find it even funnier if they hadn't cost me my bet! Absolutely useless.
February 26, 201510 yr Arsenal are useless. Granted he's a long-standing manager but I've never known anyone quite like Wenger for spectacularly ruining big opportunities. Pellegrini's stubbornness seems to have fucked it for City too. There can be absolutely no justification whatsoever for playing your two strikers as nothing more than deep attacking wingers.
February 26, 201510 yr I genuinely couldn't sleep last night, so angry was I about Arsenal's biblical f*** up. Lost a ton of money on it too.

Its like Allardyce said before; managers seem split into two these days - idealists versus pragmatists Your pragmatists include Mourinho, van Gaal, Pulis and Big Sam himself! On the other hand, the idealists include Wenger, Martinez, Rodgers & Pelligrini. On nights like last night, the idealists are shown up to be naive and powerless against a team with a plan like Monaco.

On nights like last night, the idealists are shown up to be naive and powerless against a team with a plan like Monaco. Think there's something in that. That being said I reckon Big Sam is less pragmatic, more surrounded himself with the right people. Neither Wenger nor Pelligrini are averse to changing the pace of the game but as said, (esp w/ Pelligrini) was more intent on asserting his own authority than actually going for it. That said, there's enough of that idiot wind blowing around the higher hierarchies of Old Trafford since the LvG appointment too, I can't say nowt.

He is the master of self-promotion is our Big Sam  I think in his context, its about how the manager sets the team up; the more pragmatic manager will look at the opposition and ask their team to adjust - look at Mourinho away from home in Europe or Pulls having no qualms grinding out a 0-0. On the other hand, your Wenger's and Rodgers will set up to attack each and every team because of their adherence to attacking football. On a good day, it overwhelms the opponents - look at Liverpool last year for example but other times it looks so naive e.g. Arsenal on countless occasions.

Last season West Ham were probably the most one dimensional team in the league. Board told him to change it up and he knew a few people. The man's a complete chancer in a similar category to Harry and, thus far, Tim Sherwood. It must be very frustrating for Arsenal fans to see how much you can pass the fuck out of a ball in matches like that though. Genuinely believe Wenger's too far gone to ever achieve anything sustainable with the club again. Cut your ties, start anew. Until then they're stuck in this mindless circle of underachievement and settling mentality.
February 27, 201510 yr Author An opportunity missed by Arsenal. Again the also-runs in this tournament like Porto, Schalke getting to the last 16 and quarter-finals and exiting with a whimper.
February 28, 201510 yr If City were intent on playing with two strikers they should have copied the Atlético template and kept them goalside of Busquets when they didn't have the ball. I can imagine them playing Silva behind Aguero at the Nou Camp.
February 28, 201510 yr I think Wenger's time with Arsenal is nearly up, all they had in the last 5 years is 1 win in the FA Cup, time for him to move on, and let someone else do the job, I do wonder who would take the job on though, maybe David O'Leary. Surely their fans are desperate for a change, I know I am as an Arsenal supporter. They had the chance to beat Monaco at home, and it was the best draw they had, blew it completely, I can't see them turning the game around playing away. I think the game coming up with Manchester Utd in the FA Cup draw will decide his fate at the end of this season, if they lose it

I think he should have left last summer after the Cup win.
March 1, 201510 yr 18 successive European qualifications, 9 straight finishes in the premier league top four, and presently sitting pretty in third. Anyone who thinks Wenger is going anywhere is delusional frankly. He'll go only when he's ready, and he's good for us. We may not be winning the big titles, but hey, not every team can. We're doing pretty much as well as we ever have.
March 10, 201510 yr Very good first half of the Madrid Schalke match. Schalke have nothing to lose and have attacked Madrid, but Ronaldo has bailed them out thus far. 2-2 at half time.
March 10, 201510 yr Well that was a scrape, fantastic game though! Fair play to Schalke, even if it was a level playing field before KO they should be widely lauded but coming in 2 goals down, amazing effort.

Fair play to Schalke, even if it was a level playing field before KO they should be widely lauded but coming in 2 goals down, amazing effort. Was a remarkable match and full credit to Schalke! They never gave up, played some great attacking football and probably should have gone through with some of the chances spurned. Bale did nothing though, very disappointing performance. Wonder if he's set for a move in the summer?
