I think it's just a fun article with a lot of buzz words, i.e pop crooner, thrown in. We have to WAIT till she snatches some WEAVES to use say that again freely!

Yes ARTPOP was a step down in success for her, but it still hit #1 and was the ninth best seller album of 2013 with 2.3 million copies worldwide, in a low sales climate and in spite of the mess that era was. It also yielded two top ten hits, the latter with no music video. And she's selling out her artRAVE tour shows in practically every country thinkable. She is a pop icon and constantly in the media limelight, not just for her music but her fashion, personality and philanthropy also. Whether you are a fan or not, there's no denying her impact on music the last 6 years. More than enough reason for Billboard and anyone to dub her a "pop queen".
