September 27, 201410 yr I wouldn't mind Youtube being in the UK chart tbh. Songs like Booty and Hot Boy only come once every few weeks, most of the rest of the chart is pretty "normal". And I'd argue with those songs they are well-known, even if it's due to viral videos, so perhaps they deserve to be charting. but YouTube views don't always come from people who want to hear the song, a large percentage of people will view Booty just to see J-Lo's naked ass but wouldn't necessarily audio-stream the song. The charts should be determined by the popularity of a song not it's video tbh, the system the UK has of only including audio streaming and sales is a good one.
September 27, 201410 yr Author There's a good chance Habits will be top ten next week. That really does make me ridiculously happy. Esp as it's the superior original. I think it's the remix, it's just credited differently. It's the original. If the remix was selling / being played / being streamed more, Billboard would have changed the credit.
September 27, 201410 yr Author Chart HighlightsJennifer Lopez's "Booty" debuts on the Hot 100 at #18, with a whopping 88% of its chart points coming from Vevo on youtube. It's her second highest debut after "On the Floor," which debuted at #9 (peaking at #3). That's crazy
September 27, 201410 yr Author I imagine Booty will drop like a stone since no one seems to be buying it. The Iggy remix was only just released on Monday. It's not doing that great (currently #43 on iTunes).

The charts should be determined by the popularity of a song not it's video tbh, the system the UK has of only including audio streaming and sales is a good one. On the other hand, most of the time people DO listen to a song on Youtube it's for the song, not the video. In the US Dark Horse was the most viewed song on VEVO one week before it even had a music video, which proves people do listen for audio. The situation you describe is a minority in my opinion. Not to mention, with sales you have just as many problems, if not more. Facebook campaigns, discounts, pre-order tracks, mutli-buying, fake versions, held back releases, fanbases getting songs to #1 even though nobody else likes/knows them, etc. The UK chart is by no means perfect too, who cares if there's a viral video on Youtube causing a song to spend a week in the top 20 every now and then?
September 28, 201410 yr It's the original. If the remix was selling / being played / being streamed more, Billboard would have changed the credit. But on Youtube, the latest video of the remix has 55m views? I thought the label wants to credit it just to Tove Lo but put Stay High in brackets to indicate which version they are promoting. I don't know... Because Billboard HAD Hippie Sabotage as a featuring artist when the song first charted. Edited September 28, 201410 yr by SKOB
September 28, 201410 yr Author Ok, interesting! Great it's doing well anyway! As soon as the remix has more chart points than the original, Billboard will change the credit.
