I think not crediting an artist in the title of the song is different from Syco actually stealing one of his instrumental pieces for one of their artist's songs. (of course that was no fault of Leona's).

I doubt not having an official credit detracts from any of the revenue the featured vocalist would receive anyway.

Yeah I guess so. And I suppose he wasn't officially credited on Lovers On The Sun or Good Feeling (though was mentioned in the song credits for both) so it's swings and roundabouts. It just irks me a bit that vocalists are never mentioned. I couldn't care less about Robbie getting another credited hit but it would have been nice to give the likes of Noonie Bao and Salem Al Fakir a mention.

Well to be fair Avicii was suing over his song being used without giving *any* credit (including songwriting / production). It does make his latter failure to credit featured singers seem a bit hypocritical but I don't think they're directly comparable.

When you say no credit you mean the production credit on Wikipedia or something won't appear there? Then what will appear in the infobox? I'm probably not getting what you're trying to say as usual

Noonie Bao technically has a #43 hit as a credited artist going off the album credits on Clean Bandit's 'New Eyes' (specifically 'Dust Clears') :magic: But of course she was not credited on the single release of that either.

'Collide' originally didn't list Avicii as a songwriter or producer, after the lawsuit he was given a songwriting credit (but oddly still not a production one).

Poor cow :( It seems a bit cruel to me that obscure artists like Audra Mae, who haven't contributed to the songwriting or production, but have spent hours laying down vocals in a studio, receive no credited recognition at all for it (although I'm sure they don't care too much once the royalty cheques flood in).

That's what I don't get about the resolution of that lawsuit. It makes it look like he'd always planned to, and was happy to, work with Leona by having him as a credited featured artist  Like you say, he should have been given a production credit.

I'm not so annoyed when unknown artists aren't credited (although possibly still unfair, though it could be their choices). Even the likes of Duke Dumont and Sub Focus don't always have ft.s credited.

OK I get it now I've looked on the wiki page. But who are the

listed as producers and what exactly did they do in the song? Did they only work on Collide or the actual instrumental for both?

Does anyone know if there's any difference in payment/wages to ft. artist if they are/aren't creditied?

On the other note with Collide, I expect he was lucky to get an & Avicii rather than a ft. Avicii credit :D

But in GF wasn't both artists sampling someone (I can't remember her name) so in effect Flo doesn't sample Avicii and neither vice versa. I totally agree with the Collide though. See first Avicii sampled a track to make a new one out of it and called it Penguins and ultimately made a vocal including track titled Fade Into Darkness but Collide does not sample what Avicii sampled originally, it samples Penguin/FID.

- Flo Rida used Avicii's track for his song - Avicii sampled Etta James for his track.

- Leona used Avicii's track for her song - Avicii sampled Penguin Cafe Orchestra for his track.

They're both exactly the same scenario.

But didn't Flo only sample Etta James? Or did Av do more than just put Etta's verse onto his production?

The album credits still list the vocalists (as 'vocals by [x]') so they're not *completely* uncredited, their credit is just hidden away in an obscure location.

I hear no similarities in the backing track of Flo Rida's 'Good Feeling' or Avicii's 'Levels', from what I gather Flo Rida swooped in and stole the idea and put his mess out first.

They're treated as session musicians aren't they, in that they're paid a one-off fee, and sign a contract that effectively says they're not entitled to any of the royalties.

I doubt that's the situation with Robbie though.

And Aloe Blacc is one of the writers of 'Wake Me Up', so he's getting money elsewhere, although he was complaining the other day about how little he gets from Spotifiy.

And is is 'cheaper' to not credit people or something? I know little so forgive me for being oblivious :(

From wikipedia:

Flo Rida's single "Good Feeling", which became a worldwide hit in late 2011, was primarily influenced by "Levels" and its Etta James sample.

Avicii and Arash Pournouri received credits as well because Avicii's song "Levels", which also sampled the Etta James song, is used as the primary musical sample under Flo Rida's rapping.

Anyone else tired of hearing the same sentence? Can't you just word it a little differently each time? Like 'does anyone know where the Cheek to Cheek album is' or something

Can't you maybe spin off back to where you came from?
