Woohoo...I'm happy that Sam Smith got to sing the anthem...I'm sure he will do justice!!!

I, on the other hand, am not pleased. Even if the song is good he has absolutely no ability to sing a song and not manage to mangle every syllable.

I even got a little bit restless during Furious 7 and that was pure action all the way through!

It is a long time-length but given the article says it's 10 minutes or so longer than 'Casino Royale' and 'Skyfall', which I loved all the way through, I don't think it'll matter to me too much.

That's 20 minutes longer than Age of Ultron, which sounds like rather a lot.

It all depends if the movie WARRANTS the length or not. Skyfall did, Casino Royale did not. Age of Ultron certainly didn't. In general 2h40 is too long for me though, so it does have its work cut out to hold my interest.

News of Daniel Craig might be quitting after Spectre, with Damian Lewis next in line to play Bond :(

I don't believe any of these rumours of a new James Bond. Daniel Craig is still contracted to one more film which will probably be released in 2018 at the earliest so, given he's 44 now, I doubt Damian Lewis will be the next Bond.

Seeing this tonight. I've never been a huge James Bond fan, though I've enjoyed a fair few of the films and loved Skyfall so I'm feeling quite excited for this!

It wasn't as good as Skyfall. In fact I was quite disappointed. The plot was a bit lacking and I was expecting some kind of twist or reveal that didn't really happen. Also, Moneypenny was criminally underused and I had to listen to Sam Smith's Bond theme in full.

Skyfall was excellent though, so I suppose it's not too surprising Spectre couldn't topple it. I've watched all Bond films and am a huge fan so maybe I'll be a bit more inclined to like it? What were the stunts like, given they were all real? Were they as impressive as we're lead to believe? Don't spoil the plot though! :P

there were of course some great sequences, especially the opening - (though some of the helicopter parts looked very obviously green screened). There's a sequence on a train which is very tense and well done. I'll say no more.

Apparently there's a helicopter spin which only a couple of people in the world are trained to do which was completely real, was it that? Ooh, I'm getting all excited about that train sequence! I remember getting such an adrenaline rush during the build-up and actual courtroom battle scene in Skyfall so I hope I get similar feelings with this.

Nowhere near as good as Skyfall, but Skyfall is an extremely hard film to live up to. It tried to be light hearted Bond and serious Bond. I think it does it quite well, but I also think there are a lot of flaws with the film. My main gripe is the ability to tie everything together. That's all very well and fine, but this film just really seems like it sat there, call it part 4 of 5, and I think it suffers from it. Christopher Waltz is sublime in it, but he's criminally underused.

It felt quite 'final' to me, like this was the end of Craig as Bond (wishful thinking playing a part here too, no doubt). I enjoyed it, but it's nowhere near as good as Skyfall which struck the balance perfectly between old and new, story telling and drama/action. This felt flabby and rushed all at once to me. Some scenes went on for far too long (like the car chase in Rome) and others which should have held great weight felt like they just happened (

the reveal of Blofeld

, the scene in the ''information'' room). Plotting was definitely a secondary concern with this one, again. I mean I love most Bond movies, even the most ridiculous ones, but a ridiculous plot is still better than little to no plot.

 

My main issue with it I guess was that for it's running time it never felt like it was using the time properly. I didn't check my watch at any point which is always a good sign, but at the same time I left feeling like it was an awfully long movie that didn't do an awful lot. M was glorious, as were Q and Moneypenny and I really enjoyed seeing them woven into the story. Plus the linking in the other films was well done too, even if it was just a nod to the baddies from each. If I were to compare it to a 'classic' Bond, it would probably be On Her Majesty's Secret Service, a solid film but an unexciting one and thus one that isn't a truly enjoyable Bond experience.

 

It was stunning to look at though, as ever.
